Use (1) light and (2) dark fabrics. Fabrics are listed in order of use. A - (16) squares, 1 1⁄4" x 1 1⁄4" (LIGHT) B - (16) squares, 1 1⁄4" x 1 1⁄4" (DARK #1) C - (8) squares, 2" x 2" (DARK #2) D - (4) rectangles, 2" x 3 ½" (LIGHT) ---------------------------------------------------------------Assembly 1. Sew (1) A square to (1) B square; press toward B. Make (16) A/B strips. A

3. Layer (1) C square on the end of (1) D rectangle; pin in place. Sew diagonally across C square. Trim corner to a 1⁄4" seam allowance and press toward C. Repeat for opposite end of D. Make (4) Unit #3 Flying Geese. C

4. Lay out Unit #1, Unit #2’s, and Unit #3’s, as shown. Sew into rows; press each row in opposite direction. Sew rows together (press open) to create the Winneconne Star block measuring 6 ½" square.

2. Sew (2) A/B strips together, as shown; press toward B and then make (4) strips. Lay out strips (flip second and fourth rows) and sew the rows together. Press seams in one direction to make Unit #1.

Unit #1

3. Using remaining A/B strips from Step 1, sew (2) A/B strips together, as shown; press seam in one direction. Make (4) Unit #2.
