Blue Ridge High School Reserved Painted Parking Spaces 2016-2017 The purpose of allowing students to paint their own parking spot is aimed at improving school pride and camaraderie. Students can “own” a piece of the school. We encourage students to express themselves through positive artwork. In order to follow all city and district codes, please note the guidelines below that must be followed for the painted parking spaces. The $50 fee does not replace the initial $20 Standard Student Parking Fee. •

The cost per parking space is $50. If you are not planning to paint your space, but would like to select your personal unpainted space, you may do so for the same cost. Checks should be made payable to Blue Ridge High School. Personal Painted Student Space painted in 2015-2016 can choose to pay the $20.00 for initial 2016-2017 General Permit and an extra $20 to continue their painted spot. Students will be painting their parking spaces on Friday, August 5th from 3pm-8pm and continue Saturday, August 6th from 6:30am-1pm. (It is usually a 2 day process) Students must present a TX driver’s license, valid insurance, have a license plate number, and complete all other forms to purchase an initial Student Parking Permit. Students who are approved for painting a parking space must select an outlined space on the parking lot diagram if one is available. Refunds are not available.
Conditions of Artwork/Paint Any artwork depicting items, symbols, or language that BRHS administration deems inappropriate will not be allowed. EXTERIOR LATEX paint is the only type of paint that can be used (NO OIL-BASED PAINT). No Reflective paint, No Spray paint, No Fluorescent paint Students must keep a 4” unpainted border between the white parking space lines and the paint in their parking spot. (please use blue painters tape) You may purchase EXTERIOR LATEX paint at retail stores like Sherwin Williams, Lowes, or Home Depot, but the Home Depot manager really helped us out on the last one. We highly recommend that students prime their space to ensure that the current paint doesn’t show through. Try to include the Primer in the paint (separate Primer will need to dry first). We suggest you purchase Concrete Wet-Look Sealer to seal your spot. Also suggested is using Extra Fluffy Rollers (thin, cheap ones take longer) with long handles and to Share Supplies! Your design should be clearly drawn on this form and must include the colors you will be using on your parking space.
