2009 CONVENTION CENTER CONSTRUCTION UPDATE Mississippi Coast Coliseum & Convention Center (Expansion), Biloxi OPENING DATE: October 2009 COST IN MILLIONS: $68 OWNER/OPERATOR: Mississippi Coast Coliseum Commission ARCHITECT(S): Eley Guild Hardy and TVS. FEATURES: Phase II of III resulting in 400 sq. ft. total. The project was begun in early 2005 but put on hold after Hurricane Katrina. Longterm plans will expand the center to 600,000 sq. ft. by the end of 2010

Facility

will have four halls and a conference center with ballroom and multiple breakout spaces. Will continue to serve as the largest convention and meeting space in Western Canada.

The 465,000-sq.-ft. facility will be built where the RCA Dome stood. It will increase the amount of exhibition, meeting room, ballroom and prefunction space from 688,000 sq. ft. to more than 1.2 million sq. ft.

Las Vegas Convention Center (Expansion/Renovation) OPENING DATE: TBD COST IN MILLIONS: $890 OWNER/OPERATOR: Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority ARCHITECT: TBD FEATURES: First phase adds restrooms to central hall and renovates the grand concourse, existing meeting rooms and food service, including a new food court. Two thirds of the 3.2 million-sq.-ft. venue will be renovated. Phase II concentrates on the South Hall, adding 85,000 sq. ft. of meeting rooms and concourse. Phase III adds another grand concourse and lobby in front of the building and ties the three halls together.
