FLOORING Melbourne bluestone has a strong heritage in architecture, and is used in residential and commercial projects alike. Similar to granite, Melbourne bluestone is a form of basalt or igneous rock that has formed and hardened over millions of years. It is extremely dense and hard wearing, enabling it to be used in the most vigorous applications. There are many types of bluestone which vary according to where the bluestone has been quarried. Melbourne bluestone has a wonderfully unique aesthetic and includes the ‘cat’s paws’ which are the tiny surface variations that add interest and texture.
