Changes to the beginning of the School day routine.

‘SOFT START’ TO THE SCHOOL DAY We have received very positive feedback from parents regarding the new morning entry system. Thank you for responding so positively to the changes. Staff have noticed that the children are calmer and are ready to begin work at 8.55am. . Gates open at 8.40am . Nursery enter the school as normal

Thursday 3 March The children will come to school dressed as a character from a book. Please refer to the letter sent home yesterday.

KS2 VALENTINES DISCO

Thank you to everyone who supported the school disco. We raised £531.07. Well done to the friends of Blessed Dominic for a fantastic afternoon.

. Pupils in EYFS are accompanied to the blue gate by their parents. Children walk into their class independently. . Pupils in Years 1 – 6 are accompanied by their parent/guardian to the relevant playground and pupils walk into class independently. . A member of staff will be in the class supervising the children. . Gates close at 8.55am. There will be no formal bell at the beginning of the day therefore parents can leave the premises as soon as they have escorted their child to the relevant playground. Thank you

Workshops for parents

FAIR TRADE WEEK EYFS+FS/KS1 Phonics Workshop Tuesday 15th March at 2.45pm This week was designated as Fair Trade week. Fair Trade Schools show solidarity with children in poor countries. Our after school sale included items sourced from Fair Trade ingredients. Thank you for your support £107 was raised for this worthy case

After half term there will be a Maths workshop. Early in the summer term, there will be an Assessment meeting for parents to share information about the changes to the assessment process. More information to follow.

Good news. We will be appoininting a school crossing patrol officer very soon when this person has received the appropriate training. More information to follow.

DROPPING OFF AND PARKING

An increasing number of parents/carers are dropping their children off in the school car park for breakfast and other early morning clubs. It is also happening at the end of the day when parents/carers collect their child from an after school club.
