Led by Camp Director David Smith, the Boys Basektball Camp offers campers exceptional instruction and individual attention by an experienced staff of college coaches, high school coaches and college players.

Coach Smith has been affiliated with the Methodist basketball program for over 20 years. He has served as the head coach for the last 18 years following a four-year stint as an assistant, and before that, he was a fouryear player for the Monarchs from 1977-81.

A two-time USA South Coach of the Year, Smith has led his teams to six conference championships, most recently in 2017. In 2004 and 2005, the Monarchs won both the regular season and conference tournament championships en route to a berth in the NCAA Division III National Championship. After receiving his degree from Methodist, Smith went on to graduate school at UNC-Chapel Hill and played professionally in Derby, England. Prior to coaching at Methodist, Smith served as an assistant and head coach at high schools in Florida and North Carolina. He has a wealth of experience at the high school, college and professional levels. His enthusiasm, teaching skills and organizational ability should provide each camper with a fun-filled week. The camp is open to boys aged 8-17. Previous team or competitive experience is not required. The registration fee is $170.00 and includes five days of instruction, supplemental accident insurance coverage, eligibility to compete for camp awards, an official Methodist University Camp t-shirt. A non-refundable deposit of $50.00 and a registration application are due prior to the camp.

Facilities
The Boys Basketball camp is held on the beautiful and spacious Methodist University campus in Fayetteville, N.C. On-court instruction will take place in the March F. Riddle Center. This 1,200-seat, air-conditioned arena is home to the Monarchs and provides a spacious teaching and playing locale for the camp.

Registration will be held from 8:00 - 9:00 am on Monday, June 19 and July 10 in the lobby of the March F. Riddle Center. Activities will begin promptly at 9:00 am each day and conclude at 4:00 pm. The camp will end at noon on Friday.
