Body checking is not allowed, even within 3 yards of the player with possession, or a loose ball or ball in flight. A player may not ‘go into another player with his body.’ Incidental contact is allowed, also equal pressure contact, and also screening techniques. Within the 3 yard rule, a man/ball screen may be used, but must be at most equal pressure. A defensive player is allowed to maintain his ground using equal pressure and an offensive player may not initiate a charge; neither player is allowed to use more than equal pressure to substantially dislodge a player or knock a player to the ground.
