Sewing machine in good working order with power cord, foot control, slide on tray and a new needle. Be sure to bring your sewing machine instruction book if you are sewing on something other than a Bernina. Basic sewing kit to include: chalk marker, water-soluble fabric marking pen, long strong straight pins (invest in quality straight pins with glass heads), pincushion, seam ripper, seam gauge, needles for hand sewing and extra machine needles. Cutting mat 6x24 ruler Bloom Creek Quilts book by Vicki Bellino Small sharp scissors Small iron and ironing pad Sewing machine needles size 60/8 and 80/12 Invisible thread—I prefer YLI Wonder thread. Superior and Sulky also work well. Cotton thread to match your fabric Water soluble glue Pencil Freezer paper Small paint brush or stencil brush Foot for zig zag stitching Walking foot (optional) Thread stand (optional)
Fabrics for class:
1 ¼ yd each of 7-10 assorted fabrics for tote, ties and appliqués (not fat quarters) or 15-20 assorted precut Jelly Roll strips 2 ½ ― by 42‖ ¼ yd light fabric for appliqué background (not a fat quarter)
1 yd fabric for lining
1/3 yd fabric for handles 1 ½ yds fusible fleece (not fusible interfacing as stated in pattern) 4‖ by 16‖ piece of Timtex or other sturdy material for bottom of bag
Before coming to class: It is not necessary to cut out your bag pieces before coming to the first class. However, if you do, please cut your handle pieces to measure 5‖ x width of fabric, along with the same measurement for the fusible fleece.
Class Policies:
Classes must be paid for at time of registration. One week cancellation notice required for refund or credit fees. It is important to have all your materials before class begins and to have your sewing machine set up and ready to sew. Our teachers make every effort to start on time. All brands of sewing machines and sergers are welcome. As a courtesy to others, please turn off cell phones during class. Loaner machines are available for $10.00 rental fee at time of registration.
