Preventative Maintenance is Preservation • Visual Inspections (Deck, rail, scour and timbers or steel beams needing a little help?). • Sweeping of Decks- get the sand & salt build- up off. It acts as a sponge. • Washing of Bridges- get the salt off, it rots the concrete & steel. Use that new fire truck, or just a pressure washer. • Seal the Concrete: Linseed Oil, Silane or Siloxane.
Preventative Maintenance (cont.) • Painting preserves the life of: Structural Steel & Railing Systems. • Drainage Maintenance: • Galvanizing or Weathering Steel should be considered in the design THE BOTTOM LINE: Working on the preservation of your structures (bridges, retaining walls, dams etc.) will save you money. “A stitch in time saves nine.”
Pressure Washing with a 500 Gal. tank
Sweep then wash areas subject to deicing salts
Seats, Backwalls & Bearings are critical
Wings are subject to salt spray
If you run you can get more bridges done
Clean those Joints! (Swap-Loader)
You can use simple spray devices to apply sealers
