National Broiler Market-At-A-Glance Whole broiler/fryer prices are steady. Offerings of all sizes are light to moderate for current trade needs. Retail and food service demand is in a full range, but mostly moderate. Floor stocks are balanced. Market activity is slow to moderate. In the parts complex, prices are steady to firm for most dark meat cuts, and generally steady for the remaining items. Supplies of all items are light to moderate. Market activity for parts is slow to moderate. In production areas, live supplies are moderate at mostly desirable weights.

Prices of 15-20% MSC are trending steady for both fresh and frozen. Domestic and export demand is moderate to fairly good. Supplies for spot market sales are mostly moderate. Processing schedules are varied in observance of Independence Day earlier in the week with schedules returning to normal next week. Market activity is moderate. Supplies of raw materials are moderate to instances light with continued interest into pet food channels. Frame prices are trending steady to slightly lower with trading levels between 8.5-11 cents FOB, mostly 10-11 cents FOB.

This compares to 162.3 million head the previous week and to 163.5 million head the same week a year ago, when the slaughter was 165.8 million head and the national weighted average price was 94.29 cents per pound.
