Overview
VTA is committed to delivering the full 16-mile extension of the BART line to Santa Clara County, known as VTA’s BART Silicon Valley Extension. Project features planned for Phase II of the extension includes a 5.1-mile-long subway tunnel through downtown San Jose and four additional stations, including Alum Rock/28th Street, Downtown San Jose, Diridon, and Santa Clara. Downtown San Jose Station-West Option
San Jose’s downtown is home to over 250 restaurants, 9 theater venues, numerous art galleries, museums and many unique festivals and special events. Several sections make up the downtown; the artsy SoFA District, the bustle of San Pedro Square and the Convention and Cultural District’s diverse performing arts offerings. The Downtown San Jose station is one of four stations that are part of the six-mile Phase II extension of the project. VTA is currently considering two location options with the same station features. The proposed West Option is located between Market Street and 2nd Street, and the East Option is located between 2nd Street and 4th Street in San Jose.
