INTRAMURAL SPORTS BUBBLE SOCCER RULES

Bubble Soccer Rules Mission Statement: Campus Recreation collaborates with the university community to offer exemplary facilities, programs and services that inspire participation and engagement. Rule 1: Eligibility 1. All participants are subject to the Eligibility guidelines, which are listed in the current Intramural Sports Participant Handbook. 2. Participation is limited to currently enrolled U of A fee paying students and U of A Faculty/Staff that have a current Department of Campus Recreation membership. 3. All players must sign in with the Supervisor at site prior to game time with a current Catcard. 4. No ID, no play, no exceptions. 5. All Intramural participants must complete an online participation waiver prior to participating in any sport. This waiver can be found at rec.arizona.edu under the Intramural section. This waiver only needs to be filled out once and transfers over to all Intramural sports. Rule 2: Equipment 1. All soccer balls and bubbles will be provided for the participants. Rule 3: Teams 1. Games will be played 5v5. 2. Substitutions may be made throughout the game, but play will not stop and all substitutes must be checked by the Supervisor before entering the game. Athletic shoes are required, cleats are not allowed. Shin guards are not allowed due to chance of damaging the bubbles. Players must remove all items from their pockets/clothing to reduce damage to bubbles/themselves. All rings and jewelry must be removed before entering a bubble. Rule 5: The Game

Bubble soccer is played similar to the regular rules of soccer. The following modifications are provided. A game will consist of four 8 minute quarters with four minute breaks between each quarter. The clock will run continuously except during timeouts. Each team will be given 2 one minute timeouts. Kickoff: The ball is placed in the center of the field. Teams line up 10 yards from the center line. When the whistle blows, teams may run to the ball for possession. a. Kickoffs occur at the start of each quarter as well as after each goal. 6. Free kicks may be awarded if players are overly aggressive. If a free kick is awarded, the opposing team must be 5 yards away from where the kick is being taken. 7. Offside: There are no offside in bubble soccer.

INTRAMURAL SPORTS BUBBLE SOCCER RULES 8. All shots must be taken from the opponents half of the field. 9. If a ball goes into a bubble, the ball will become dead and a face-off will occur. 10. Face-off: One player from each team will stand 5 feet away from the ball. When the official blows the whistle, they both go for the ball. 11. If the ball goes out of play, as deemed by the official, the opposing team will have a kick in. Rule 6: Fouls 1. Yellow and red cards will be given at the referee’s discretion. 2. The following will result in a free kick: a. Kicking b. Tripping c. Hitting an opponent from behind d. Hitting an opponent who is on the ground e. Bumping can only be done on the front half of the bubble. Players may not leave their feet to launch themselves at the opponent. When the whistle blows, the game must stop immediately. Please clean out your bubble with wipes after using it. This will only take a few seconds and will keep everything sanitary.
