SWA developed a master plan for this dense urban community oriented around a central spine that begins as a mixed-use retail street, evolves into an urban plaza (the center of many public uses), transforms into a large central park, and finally terminates as a marshland at an existing creek. Buchanan Field is designed as a walkable community consisting of retail with residential above, high to low-density housing, offices, a convention hotel, lower density retail, a college, a swim center, and a permanent farmers market. The community will utilize green design and building principles.
