New Administrators
Buckholts suffered difficulties this past semester as our principal became ill and had to take a long-term leave of absence and, due to her situation, will only return as a part-time employee. The situation was magnified when the assistant principal had to leave also. This started the district on a search for quality campus leadership. The search and interviews revealed two who stood above the rest. One with secondary experience and one with elementary experience. After consultation, the Board and Superintendent decide to hire both and not replace the assistant principal. We now have an elementary principal and a secondary principal. Each candidate agreed to extra duties to complete the contact with the secondary principal taking the athletic director position and the elementary principal agreeing to join a counselor program in the summer. At the end of the first semester, Dr. Dykstra noted, “Due to the vacancies, these two have taken on more than most new administrators and are making great strides to move the district forward. Great things are happening at Buckholts ISD and these two are going to multiply the positives.” The district is excited about what they bring and look to the future with great expectations. You are encouraged to come and meet these two. They both have lots of plans for the school and the improvements are already showing.

Announcing Mrs. Lindsie Almquist – Elementary Principal I am the proud Principal of the best students and staff at Buckholts Elementary! I started in November 2014 and I am so excited about the great things happening here. I taught 2nd and 4th grade students with Talented & Gifted (TAG), English as the Second Language (ESL), and Special Education (SpEd) Inclusion students in Round Rock I.S.D. at Callison and Live Oak Elementary Schools. The last two years in Round Rock I.S.D., I attended Texas State University to obtain my Masters of Educational Leadership. I became the proud Assistant Principal at Plum Creek Elementary in Lockhart, Texas in 2013 and the summer of 2014 served as their Interim Principal. I have a wonderful husband, Cody Almquist and two fur children, Dixie Lynn, our Maltese, and Pudge Monkey Diesel, our Olde English Bulldogge. We are currently in the process of moving to Bell County and look forward to starting a family in the future. I look forward to meeting and learning alongside each one of you and our children! Presenting Mr. Travis Murphy – Secondary Principal This is my first year with Buckholts ISD. My amazing wife, Marcie and I moved to Texas in 2006 from Virginia. We have two wonderful children, Kerrigan and Hagen. It’s my honor and a privilege to serve the students, parents, and community of Buckholts, Texas. As your principal for the secondary grades, (7th – 12th), you can expect that I will reach out to you and ask for your support, ideas, suggestions, and involvement. I encourage you to join our Buckholts ISD family, where preparing children for the future will be our number one priority. I pledge to do my best to ensure a safe and welcoming instructional environment for all students, parents, faculty and staff. Moving forward, our expectations will be set high for staff & student achievement in the classroom and in the area of athletics. We will embrace the Buckholts Badger traditions of the past and incorporate the values of Pride, Integrity, and Courage into everything we do.
