League Rules The rules listed below shall be followed for all league games. All other AAU Rules for Inline hockey will apply. 1. Each game shall consist of two, 17 minute halves with clock stopping each time the whistle blows. a. There will be a 2-minute intermission in between halves. b. There will be a 60 minute curfew for each game. c. No game shall start more than 5 minutes after its listed start time. 2. All players participating in Buffalo Storm Midget & Varsity games MUST be listed on their team roster in order to be eligible to play. a. All team’s rosters must be turned in before the teams first scheduled game and will permanently be frozen before the teams third scheduled game. b. ALL players on a team’s roster must hand in their proof of AAU Insurance form before they participate in any games for a team. c. If no roster is received by the league officials by the start of the 3rd scheduled game, then the team will be unable to participate in league play until a roster is received. d. All areas of the roster MUST be filled out for each player in order for that player to be eligible. Any player who does not have all areas of the roster completed will not be covered by AAU Insurance and therefore will be unable to compete in any Buffalo Storm Inline games. e. Any player who is not listed on their teams’ roster and participates in a league game will be suspended for 1 year and the team they play for will forfeit any and all games the unregistered player participated in. f. For the Varsity Division, all players must produce a current school ID or report card with a current picture to league officials before the first league game. The ID must have school attended, the current year, and the current status (grade) of the student. Each player must be a current Freshman to Senior classman (9th thru 12th grade) from their respective High School. All players in the Varsity Division must attend the same high school (exception is goalie pool players). Players playing in the Midget Division must provide a copy of a valid birth certificate with picture. g. Goalie pool players: teams in the Varsity Division may use goaltenders from another school to play only if they cannot get a goalkeeper from their current school. All goalie pool players must be approved by the Buffalo Storm Inline Coordinator and all other teams in the Varsity Division. h. During all court times, an adult over the age of 21 shall be present on the bench and be responsible for all players on the court. i. Each team is allotted 2 extra court times that are included with their registration fees. These court times must be scheduled and approved through the Buffalo Storm Inline Hockey Coordinator. j. The “Team Official” (Coach) of the team using an illegal player will also be suspended for 2 games. k. To be eligible for the Playoffs, a player on a team’s roster must participate in At least 50% of the Regular Season Games. If a player has not participated in 50% of the regular season games, they will not be eligible for the Playoffs. 3. If a team does not have at least 5 ROSTERED players at the designated start time of their game, the game will be called a forfeit and forfeit rules will apply to the team that does not have enough players to play the game.

a. For any forfeit, the forfeiting team will be forced to pay both teams referees fees ($46). (Each team will give the scorekeeper $23 before the start of each game for referee fees) b. If any team accumulates two forfeits in a single season, that team will be removed from the league with no refunds. If any individual player accumulates 5 or more penalties in a single game, they will immediately be removed from the game and will be suspended for the next scheduled game. a. Each time after the first ejection, a player that accumulates 5 or more penalties in a single game will be forced to serve an EXTRA game suspension, added onto the original suspension. Fighting will ABSOLUTELY NOT BE tolerated. Each fighting penalty will be called as a 5 minute major, and a game misconduct, counting as 3 of your allowed 5 penalties in a game, and will automatically carry a 3-game suspension. a. If this causes any player to exceed the amount of penalties stated in rule (4), that suspension will be tacked onto the fighting suspension. (Note: any suspensions that have not been fulfilled from a previous season will be served starting the next season that person participates) b. Any player that is involved in two fighting penalties throughout the season will be expelled from the Buffalo Storm Midget & Varsity leagues with NO REFUND. Referees will be on “heightened awareness for all restricting fouls”. a. When your stick becomes parallel with the court, you are running a risk at receiving a penalty. b. The Stick being parallel with the court is the action, there needs to be a consequence to the action (i.e. The player being pulled back, loss of stride, using your stick to stop a player). c. In order for players not to receive a penalty, players must establish body position and skate with the other player; this will be deemed a good play as long as the stick is not used to restrain the player. Each team is allowed one, 30 second time out per game. Each team must have color coded jerseys with numbers. The numbers on the jersey must match the number which is on the game roster. Games which are tied at the end of the two halves will end in a tie, unless the game is during the playoffs when the format listed in Rule 8(a-d) shall be used. a. 1 - 5 minute sudden death overtime period. b. 1 - 3 player shootout c. If no team has been determined the winner after the 5 player shootout: A sudden death shootout will take place. All axle openings must contain and axle and a wheel. Ie: A four wheel frame must contain four axles and 4 wheels. If a player loses a wheel during play, they must proceed directly to the players’ bench or play shall be stopped when the offending team gains possession. No time penalty shall be assessed. All players and goaltenders must wear appropriate inline skates for all league games. Goaltenders will NOT be allowed to play games without inline skates. If a goaltender makes any movement towards the body of an opposing player on the floor, a match penalty will be assessed to the goaltender for attempt to injure. Further action will then be taken by league authorities. a. Only a team’s 30 second timeout may be used to replace the goaltender who was assessed a match penalty. The league will enact a running clock “mercy rule” when one team is leading by 7 goals in the 2nd half of play. a. The clock will continue to be “running time” until the team losing brings the deficit to within 5 goals. All teams will be required to provide their own pucks for warm-ups; Buffalo Storm Inline is not responsible for providing pucks for Midget & Varsity teams before the start of each game. ALL PLAYERS MUST BE THE APPROPRIATE AGES AS ADVERTISED IN OUR YEARLY BROCHURE TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THEIR SPECIFIC DIVISION FOR BOTH MIDGET & VARSITY LEAGUE! It is the coaches, players & parents responsibility to understand all the rules & schedule made out by the Buffalo Storm Inline Midget & Varsity Leagues.
17. ALL Buffalo Storm Sport Programs have a ZERO TOLERANCE for Abuse and Misconduct by its Players towards Officials, League Personnel and Any Other Players. If deemed necessary, actions can and will be taken to maintain a safe and sportsmanlike atmosphere for everyone involved.
