Battle of the Bats
Saturday, May 6th, 2017 The Battle of the Bats is the LARGEST fundraiser we have at Bull City Little League. Our 2016 Battle of the Bats event raised $25,000 for BCLL. We hope to surpass that total in 2017 and raise $35,000. With the participation and involvement of EVERYONE in the Bull City Little League Family…from our Rookies to our Majors and Softball family…we can certainly reach our goal as a league. If each player in our league can raise $100 or more, we will well surpass our GOAL. All BCLL baseball and softball players are eligible to participate. Battle of the Bats is a friendly competition across our league where each participant earns a composite score based on their dollars contributed multiplied by the number of points the player earns for each hit on 10 pitches thrown by one of their coaches: • • • • •
1 point for an infield hit 2 points for a ball that reaches the outfield 3 points for a hard grounder that reaches the outfield 4 points for a ball that reaches the outfield on the fly 5 points for a home run (hit past cones set up in the outfield per age group)
For example, if a player collects donations of $100, and earns a batting score of 25 points, the player's composite score would be 2,500 points. A player may also purchase additional pitches on the day of the event – 3 pitches/$20 Each player who raises $60 or more will receive a 2017 Battle of the Bats Drawstring Backpack with a Dick’s Sporting Goods gift certificate and a Chick-fil-A gift card inside. Also, for 2017, prizes will be awarded for the TOP 3 FUNDRAISERS (by dollar amount only) across ALL Bull City Little League baseball and softball divisions. Winners will be honored on the website and during Closing Ceremonies and will receive the following prizes: First Place: A pair of wireless Beats® headphones ($350 Value) Second Place: A Pair of Oakley® Sport Sunglasses ($120 Value) Third Place: A 4-pack of Durham Bulls tickets (seats behind the dugout) & $25 in Bulls Bucks Each player should seek to get donations from friends, family members, neighbors, and businesses to support the league. Be proud of BCLL and ask everyone you know! Donations can be in any amount and every dollar helps! Checks should be made out to “Bull City Little League.” Please note that all donations to BCLL are tax deductible and Proof of Donation letters can be provided on the day of the event upon request.
