Bus Shelter Proposal 101 East 11th Street, Suite G13 Chattanooga TN 37402 United States Dear Deidre Keylon, I am currently a senior in the Sculpture Department at the Kansas City Art Institute. Your bus stop proposal is of great interest to me. I believe I am a qualified candidate for this project due to my education and creativity.The scale and scope of this project is a way for my work to enter the public realm. Geology and nature are fundamental to how I produce my images. Even though many of my works for this particular project are abstract, they still exist in space as an experience, just as nature does. The bus shelter is a space where I want sitting, relaxing, and taking a moment to escape becomes a more pleasurable experience. It is prudent that the shelter provides a way to exist beyond the local conditions. My art works’ origins derive from contemplation, this sense of contemplation and respite is essential in trying to renew the spirit and reiterate the importance of community. The vibrancy and bright colors in my work are abundant and apparent; this conveys celebration and joy. Seeing something effervescent on a rainy day that can shield you from the elements would, perhaps make ones day better. What can promote family and community more than happiness?
