Bystock Court History & Description Bystock Court is a Grade II Listed mansion built in an Edwardian neo-Baroque style, dating originally from approximately 1800. The Property was substantially re-modelled in 1907 when a north wing was added. Bystock Court was originally built as a private residence, but has since been used in various forms as a residential home for people with learning difficulties and disabilities.
The Property comprises the main house, north wing and an annexe flat. The main house is three storeys with accommodation on the basement, ground and first floors. The north wing is also three storeys and has accommodation on the ground floor, mezzanine and first floors. The Annexe flat comprises a kitchen, two bedrooms and a bathroom. The main house retains many original features, including a remarkably complete set of high quality internal and external joinery, original panelling, a gallery hallway, chimney stacks, chandeliers, wrought ironwork, fireplaces and glazing. The north wing is more modest and has a central corridor with rooms opening on either side providing bedrooms, bathrooms, commercial kitchen, preparation areas and ancillary accommodation on the ground floor. There is also a generous basement that provides storage and a plant room. In total, the main house and annexe provides approximately 31,000 sq ft (2,880 sq m) GIA. The principal point of access to the property is Old Bystock Drive, via Dinan Way. Dinan Way is a publically adopted distributor road on the northern periphery of Exmouth, joining Hulham Road to the west and the B3178 to the east.
The East Devon Local Plan (2013-2031) was formally adopted on 28th January 2016, replacing the previous version (1995-2011). The plan proposes larger scale development within Exmouth and will promote moderate new housing provision, new employment provision within the town and social / community / leisure facilities to serve the needs of local residents.
