Cable Panel Pillow Cover 20”x20” (51x51cm) hand knit pillow cover with envelope closure. This pattern is knit in three pieces which are then joined with a crochet stitch border. The rope cable pattern is knit over 16 rows.
Materials 1 pair each 5.5mm/US9/UK5 and 6mm/US10/UK4 needles Cable needle Crochet hook 4mm/US G-6/UK8 Sewing needle Yarn: Approx. 12 oz./400gms/600yds worsted weight yarn/#4/medium (note always buy a little extra yarn to be sure that you can finish your project and check the dye lots match on all the balls you buy).
Tension/Gauge 4”x4” (10 x10cm) on 6mm/US10/UK4 needles = 16 stitches and 20 rows of stocking stitch Note: It may be tedious, but always work a tension square before you start your project to be sure your finished item is the size you expected.
Abbreviations and Techniques: K- Knit stitch P- Purl stitch St(s) – stitch (es) C4B - slip next 4 Sts onto cable needle and hold in back of work, K4 from left needle, K4 from cable needle Single Crochet finishing
With right sides of work together, insert the crochet hook through both thicknesses. Catch the yarn with hook and draw a loop through. Insert the hook again. Draw a loop through both thicknesses and the loop on the hook. Repeat all around the pillow.

[email protected] Method Front Using size 6mm/US10/UK4 needles cast on 74 stitches and set pattern as follows: Row 1: K17, P4, K8, P4, K8, P4, K8, P4, K17 Row 2: P17, K4, P8, K4, P8, K4, P8, K4, P17 Repeat rows 1 and 2, 4 more times (10 rows) Row 11: K17, P4, C4B, P4, C4B, P4, C4B, P4, K17 Row 12: P17, K4, P8, K4, P8, K4, P8, K4, P17 Repeat rows 1 and 2, 2 more times (16 rows) Repeat these 16 rows of pattern until work measures 20”/51cm from cast on edge. Cast off knitwise Back (work two alike) Using size 5.5mm/US9/UK5 needles cast on 74 stitches and work in K1, P1 rib for 20 rows or approximately 4”/10cm as follows: Row 1: K1, P1 repeat to end Row 2: K1, P1 repeat to end Change to 6mm/US10/UK4 needles and work in stocking stitch (knit one row, purl one row) until work measures 12”/30cm from cast on edge. Cast off knitwise. Finishing Sew in any loose ends. If you like to block your work do that now. To make up, place wrong sides of work together and with the front facing using 4mm/US G-6/UK8 crochet hook, join both sides together with a single crochet all the way around the pillow. (See abbreviations and techniques section above for a little more detail). You may need to add an extra stitch or two at the corners so that they lie flat. Overlap the ribbed sections when you get to them and crochet through all three pieces. If you prefer you can just crochet the outer layer to the front and sew the inner ribbing to the seam from the inside. Sew in any loose ends from the crochet. Add pillow insert and enjoy!
