Campion Marine Wins Green Award Press Release April 27, 2010 - Kelowna, BC Press Campion Marine Inc. is proud to announce that it has been awarded winner of the Release Green Business Awards through the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce under the Manufacturing & Construction category. The award recognizes environmentally sustainable practices. “We are honoured to receive this award,” states Brock Elliott, General Manager for Campion Marine. “The Kelowna Chamber has chosen to take a leadership role by recognizing economic sustainability, and to increase awareness of sustainable practices,” says Weldon LeBlanc, CEO for the Kelowna Chamber. “The Green Business Awards recognize businesses and organizations which successfully integrate environmentally sustainable practices into their business operations.” “We will continue to move forward along the green path looking for new and better ways to improve our boats, both for the boater and for the environment,” says Elliott. Campion recently began manufacturing all of its boats using a renewably sourced bioderived resin, the first boat maker to do so. Envirez® resin uses a substantial amount of soybean oil and corn derived ethanol in its formulation enabling Campion to eliminate over 100,000 pound of C02 from entering the atmosphere. Campion is also using Ecomate® polyurethane flotation foam products that further reduce harmful emissions and unlike previously used foams, are free of Volatile Organic Compounds. Campion is also testing a resin remover, an alternative to acetone that is a much less hazardous material and non-flammable. Acrastrip® CRR is recognized by the Design for the Environment division of the US EPA. These initiatives build on the Lean Manufacturing practice already implemented 4 years ago and allows Campion to further reduce its waste and ecological footprint. Campion just recently launched a bio-resin, bio-diesel powered Allante 645 for delivery to Lake Muskoka in Ontario. Campion Marine has been building high-performance sport boats and cruisers for 36 years. The family owned company, at its facility in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, builds the Allante line of sport boats and cruisers, the Explorer sport utility water craft, Chase high-performance boats and the Svfara wake/surf towboats. They manufacture more than 37 models and 48 variations of boats ranging from 16 to 30 feet in length and market and sell their boats in more than 30 countries.
