Canadian Arctic Overlord, Thor and Asgard, Baffin Island. Russ Bunker, Jerry Cinnam on, P.T. Davis, Scott Kimball, Jon Leonard and I were in the P angnirtung Pass area from June 17 to August 20. Long stretches of storm y w eather lim ited the num ber of climbing days. Locals said it was one of the rainiest summ ers on record. On July 23 Overlord was climbed via the west basin and north ridge by C innam on, K im ball and me over mixed snow and rock to the ridge and from there with scram bling to the top. Davis and Leonard climbed T hor from the east on August 4 and 5. The climb gave m ulti-pitched, interm ediate rock
climbing to the summ it, from which the pair had a spectacular view down the overhanging 4500-foot west face. The north sum m it of A sgard was climbed via the 1952 Swiss route on A ugust 9 by Cinnam on, Davis, K im ball and me. The climb was done in an unusual stretch of perfect w eather. The climbing was mixed to the col. F rom there it was on fine rock for the final 500 feet, the most difficult being of 5.8. C h r is t o p h e r W
