Cagey Whitetail Deer Racing Across the Cannonball River Wildlife: Considered one of the most challenging game animals, the whitetail deer are abundant due to the incredible habitat and food source this ranch offers. There are also blacktail deer along the river and the occasional mule deer for an excellent variety of big game animals.
A Rafter of Wild Turkeys Wild turkeys are an abundant game bird on this ranch. This rafter was spotted crossing the road not more than 100 yards from the main home! Notice the younger birds following the path of their watchful mothers! 2

View of the Corn Field—you can hear the pheasants running through the corn field! DESCRIPTION: 140 acres of corn were planted by a local farmer with the profits divided. The ranch owner made a profit of $40,000 for his share. Pine trees were planted on the outer perimeter to create wind-break and habitat.

Solen ND Solen has a population of 88 people as of July 2009. Solen, located in Sioux County, is only a few miles from the headquarters of the Cannonball River Ranch.
