INTRODUCTION Hi! This is certainly a job you can do yourself, and it doesn't break any seal so it's even warranty-safe. Just make sure you use a screwdriver that fits perfectly! otherwise you'll end up damaging those little screws.

Step 1 — Clock Battery 

undo screw near the letter 'o' from 'open' that's indicated on the bottom left of the camera



Undo screw as indicated by the red arrow.



for this, you need to lift the rubber covers over the data connectors

now you can simply slide out the carrier for the 'Date & Time Battery'



now you have access to the battery.



The type is CR1616, 3V , lithium type, original brand as supplied by canon is Maxell.



Battery goes in with the +positive side down (as pictured)
