21st May 2018 Dear Parent/Carer This has been an incredible academic year for our Year 11 students who now sitting their examinations. Since Easter our Year 11 students have taken every opportunity to ensure that they are fully prepared for their crucial examinations. Opportunities have included, After Academy Progress Clubs (AAPC), Booster Lessons, Top Tips, Super Learning Days, Maths, English and Science Tutor Groups, Trial Examinations for Maths and Lunchtime Revision classes. We are incredibly proud of the commitment of our students during this time. The examinations commenced on May 14th and have taken place every day since then. The maturity and resilience that has been demonstrated by our students, during this very challenging time, has been exemplary and I like to congratulate students for this. Keep going and we look forward to results day on 23rd August 2018. Students have been collecting points to attend the Class of 2018 Prom since this time last year. Many of our students have secured their place at this prestigious event and have received their invitation letters and consent forms. The closing day for payment is 8th June 2018. Please contact the Year Team if you require any additional information about this event. On May 18th the Year Group had their ‘Class of 2018’ photograph. Information will be provided shortly as to how this photograph can be purchased. The Year 11 examinations will finish on 22nd June and the final assembly will take place on the same day. This is an opportunity for our students to be together as Year 11, at the Academy, for one last time. This event will take place at 11.15am and we will say our final goodbyes at 12noon. If students have purchased ‘leavers hoodies’ they will be available to collect on this day also. Many of our students have participated in Sixth Form Question and Answer Sessions throughout the past few weeks. These have been an incredibly useful introduction to the courses we have on offer. The Sixth Form application form is available on our website and the closing date for this is 8th June 2018. Our Sixth Form Taster Week takes place between the 25th and 29th June for students who will be returning to Joseph Swan Academy Sixth Form in September. There will be more information on this introduction to Sixth Form after half-term.
