Dear Parent/Carer I am writing to provide details about the arrangements for the end of term and the start of the next academic year in September. School will close on Friday 21 July 2017, students will be allowed to leave at 12.15 pm. Please note there will be a lunch service available if required. The school’s Learning Zone will be open until 2.45 pm for students wishing to stay to catch up with work. We have been liaising with the bus company regarding the Scholar buses and can confirm the following: ●
The 849 to High Spen and the 847 to Lobley Hill will be at school for pick up at 12.15 pm
●
There will be NO 848 to Bensham or 846 to the Teams on this day; therefore students will be required to make their way home using alternative methods.
The new school term starts on Wednesday 6 September 2017 for students in Years 8 – 11. Students joining Year 7 will start the day before (Tuesday 5 September 2017) to get used to the procedures in their new school. All students are expected to be in school promptly by 8.30 am each day. We strive to ensure our students have pride in not just the school itself but the community and its residents, our school uniform represents this and the standards we set. At all times students are to wear their uniform and respect everything it represents. The full uniform is therefore to be worn by students on the way to school, between lessons and on the way home. I would like to remind you that next year all students will be required to carry their new school planner with them as part of their Equipment for Learning. The contribution required towards the cost of this planner is £4.00; all payments are to be made to school by Wednesday 19 July 2017. It has been another very busy and successful year and I would like to thank you for your ongoing support of our school. As you may be aware, I am moving on from Kingsmeadow this term to take up a Headship in Dubai. It has been a wonderful four years working with so many amazing students and talented staff and I thank parents for all their support. Mr Volpe starts as Head Teacher in September. He is someone with much experience who will continue to improve standards and ensure the very best education for all our students.
