Carlisle Little League - Field Maintenance Game Day On game day the Home coaches are responsible to chalk the field and install the bases prior to the game. The coach should have this done prior to warm-ups or have a parent volunteer assist with the field prep while the players are warming up. It is important that games begin on time as we typically have double-headers on every field. Home team should always occupy the 3rd base dugout. The website is the official schedule and indicates home and visitor designation. The coaches of the Visitor team are responsible for removal of the bases at the completion of the game, if you are the final game of the day on that field.

Supply Locations Rookie Field and East Field Bases and chalk will be located in the garage of the concession stand. Please make sure everything is returned to the building on the shelves at the completion of the days’ games. West Field Bases and chalk will be kept in the lower part of the crow’s nest behind home plate. Please make sure everything is returned to there at the completion of the days’ games. Peoples Bank Field The steel box next to the 1st base line fence on West field will have bases and chalk, please return everything to that box at the end of your games.

Bases When removing the base and pitching rubber plugs please make sure you place them in the dugout in a safe place so they can be returned to the holes following the days’ games. Use the clean-out tool to completely remove all dirt prior to installing the base or pitching rubber.

Please plug all base and pitching rubber holes with base plugs that are supplied after removing the bases and pitching rubbers.

When plugging the holes please put a little dirt in the hole first so the plug sits about a quarter-inch below the top of the metal post. This will prevent the plug from falling down to the bottom. Plugging properly will keep our field in good shape and make for less work finding the base receptacles in the future. When placing the bases in the holes please make sure the mound arrow is pointing to the mound for 2nd and 3rd bases, this will insure the base will properly release when players slide into the base.

If the bases pop off the yellow tees on East and Rookie just align the base with the yellow tee and step on the base to re-attach it.

Pitching Rubbers/Portable Mounds Rookie League will use the 40ft. pitching rubber on flat ground when entering kid pitch. All four fields at South Park have this distance in the ground. Minor League will use a portable mound from 46ft, the distance is measured from the back of the plate to the front of the pitching rubber. Intermediate League will use a portable mound from 50ft, the distance is measured from the back of the plate to the front of the pitching rubber.

Home Plate Area / Field Surface The Carlisle Little League and Carlisle Girls Softball Association have invested a great deal of money into our playing surfaces and it takes a lot of work to make them playable on a nightly basis. Please encourage all players, coaches and parents to treat the property with respect. The home plate areas one rookie and east have had a jox box installed to assist with drainage and reduction of holes in the batter’s box area. Please do not let kids dig down through the field material to the jox box, and should it happen please backfill it with field material to keep it level. When using the string to assist chalking the foul lines on the fields, do not drive a spike near home plate. Please extend the line about 4 ft. for the spike does not go in the ground through the jox box. Also, please discourage hole digging or mountain building with dirt in the field and that can create an unsafe playing surface and additional unneeded field maintenance.
