Yarn and acid dye is heat set into the dye sites of carpet at a pH of 2. Therefore, it is important to use a rinse and neutralizer after using the extraction cleaners in order to bring the carpet fibers back to an acidic pH of 5 –7, in order to avoid oxidation and color loss.
