PROJECT SPECIFICATION Media City has been designed to provide a purpose built home for creative and digital businesses including the BBC. The first phase, was spread over 36 acres and completed in 2011 and there is the potential to extend to 200 acres of land over the next decade. 2
The Landscape Group were awarded the external works contract which included 30,000m of natural granite paving, terraces, steps and a footbridge over the canal. The soft landscaping was mainly in the Central Plaza with the all important component being 124 large semi-mature trees. Integral to the design was the Platipus underground anchoring system to ensure there were no tree stakes above the ground to spoil the finished Plaza. Tree Anchoring System: RF1P - 3 x S41 anchors, 1 x ratchet tensioner c/w 4m of 3mm Ø galvanised cable & 3 x Plati-Mat. RF3P - 3 x S81 anchors, 1 x ratchet tensioner c/w 7m of 6mm Ø galvanised cable & 3 x Plati-Mat. Quantity: 124
