Catholic Schools Week is a time that we set aside each year to celebrate our school community and recognize the many people who make it such a great place to be. St. John the Baptist School will be showcasing many facets of our school community. We will be starting off the week with a school-wide open house. We encourage all families in the community to attend our open house. In addition to our open house, registration for the 2019-20 school year will start for all families. Attached is an outline of other activities going on in our school throughout the week. There are several events inviting many to come and visit. Please join us in celebrating and praying for our school, and help us spread the word about the great school that we have in our community.
Catholic Schools Week Themes and Events January 27th - February 2nd Weekend of January 27th - Celebrating Our Parish * Registration for 2019-20 opens on Sunday, January 27th * School Open House (after 8:00 and 10:00 masses) - Children’s Choir will sing at the 10:00 a.m. liturgy - SAC sponsoring “Rolls and Coffee” throughout the school during the open house
Monday, January 28th - Celebrating Vocations * Prayer Service in gym @ 8:30 a.m. * Grades K-8: Write Thank You notes to seminarians, Sister Mary’s Convent, and parents * Which vocation is God calling you to do? Dress like your future vocation. - Religious orders (priest, sister…) - Lay person vocation (doctor, lawyer) - Patron saint of your vocation * Service Projects – collections for various community organizations (see back for details)
Tuesday, January 29th – Celebrating Faculty, Staff, and Volunteers * K-7 Shadow Day for transfer students * Teacher Appreciation Day Luncheon sponsored by SAC * Hats off to your teachers! Wear your favorite hat! - School uniforms are still expected for clothing
Wednesday, January 30th – Celebrating Families * All School Liturgy - 8:30 a.m. * Grandparent/special person day (EC 4 - 8) - Social with refreshments sponsored by the SJB Booster Club - 9:30-10:00 a.m.
Thursday, January 31st - Celebrating Our Community * Science Fair – 8:45-10:00 (K-8) * Disciples of God in our community. Wear your favorite SJB shirt! - Show you are proud to be a member of St. John’s community - Uniform bottoms expected
Friday, February 1st - Celebrating Our Students * Parent Appreciation Day – parents will receive a special treat during morning drop off * Student Appreciation Day – movie and ice cream * SJB staff serving supper at St. John the Evangelist Homeless Shelter
