Block Assembly: Please read all the instructions before starting. Press towards the dark fabrics. Use a 1/4" seam allowance. 1. Place one 3-7/8" red paw square on top of one 3-7/8" black paw square, right side together. Draw a line across the diagonal of the top square (Fig. 1). Sew 1/4” away from each side of the drawn diagonal line (Fig. 1). Cut the two squares apart on the drawn diagonal line (Fig. 2) to make two 3-1/2" x 3-1/2" half-square triangles (Fig. 3). Repeat to make forty-eight 3-1/2" red/black half-square triangles.

2. Place one 4-1/4" yellow square on top of one 4-1/4" black paw square, right side together. Draw a line across the diagonal of the top square (Fig. 4). Sew 1/4” away from each side of the drawn diagonal line (Fig. 4). Cut the two squares apart on the drawn diagonal line (Fig. 5) to make two half-square triangles (Fig. 6). Trim the blocks to measure 3-7/8" square. 3. Place one half-square triangle from Step 2 on top of the other half-square triangle, right sides together. Make sure the center seam is going in the same direction on both half-square triangles and the yellow triangle in the top block is opposite from the yellow triangle in the bottom block (Fig. 7). 4. Draw a diagonal line across the top half-square triangle so that it goes through the sewn seam. Sew 1/4" away from both sides of the drawn line (Fig. 8). Cut on the drawn line to make two quarter-square triangles (Fig. 9). 5. Repeat Steps 2-4 to make twenty-four yellow/black quarter-square triangles, twenty-four orange/black quartersquare triangles (Fig. 10), twenty-four green/black quarter-square triangles (Fig. 11) and twenty-four blue/black quarter-square triangles (Fig 12).
