Cutting Instructions: Fabric A: Cowboys – Multi • Cut one 20 ½” x 64 ½” LOF strip. Fabric B: Cowhide – Leather • Cut sixteen 1 ½” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together end to end with diagonal seams and cut ten 1 ½” x 64 ½” strips. • Cut eight 2 ½” x WOF strips for the binding.

Cattle Drive Page 3 Fabric C: Cattle – Green • Cut two 8 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into six 8 ½” squares. Fabric D: Palette Two – Giotto Blue • Cut three 4 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into twenty-four 4 ½” squares. Fabric E: Grass – Hay • Cut two 4 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into twelve 4 ½” squares. Fabric F: Bandana – Red • Cut two 4 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into twenty-four 2 ½” x 4 ½” strips. Fabric G: Cowboy Accessories – Blue • Cut one 8 ½” x WOF strip. Sub-cut the strip into four 8 ½” squares. Fabric H: Cowhide – Tan • Cut two 4 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into sixteen 4 ½” squares. Fabric I: Rivets – Chambre • Cut four 3 ½” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together end to end with diagonal seams and cut (2) 3 ½” x 64 ½” strips. Fabric J: Palette Two – Safari • Cut eight 4 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into sixty-four 4 ½” squares. Fabric K: Jeans – Multi • Cut two 8 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into sixteen 4 ½” x 8 ½” strips. Fabric L: Bandana – Blue • Cut two 8 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into sixteen 4 ½” x 8 ½” strips. Fabric M: Stripe – Straw • Cut two 8 ½” x 64 ½” LOF strips. Fabric N: Palette One – Cream • Cut nine 2 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into (136) 2 ½” squares. Backing: Cowboy Accessories – Straw • Cut two 92” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together and trim to 72” x 92” for the back.

Block Assembly: 1. Place one 4 ½” Fabric J square on the left side of one 4 ½” x 8 ½” Fabric K strip, right sides together (Fig. 1). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 1). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 2). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼” seam allowance.

2. Place another 4 ½” Fabric J square on the right side of the 4 ½” x 8 ½” Fabric K strip, right sides together (Fig. 3). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper left corner to the lower right corner (Fig. 3). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 4). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼” seam allowance to make one JKJ unit. make 16 J

3. Repeat Steps 1-2 to make sixteen JKJ units total. 4. Repeat Steps 1-2 using sixteen 4 ½” x 8 ½” Fabric L strips and thirty-two 4 ½” Fabric J squares to make sixteen JLJ units (Fig. 5). make 16 J

Cattle Drive Page 5 6. Repeat Steps 1-2 using twenty-four 2 ½” x 4 ½” Fabric F strips and forty-eight 2 ½” Fabric N squares to make twenty-four NFN units (Fig. 7). make 24 N N F Fig. 7 7. Place one 2 ½” Fabric N square on the top left corner of one 4 ½” Fabric E square, right sides together (Fig. 8). Sew across the diagonal of the smaller square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 8). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 9). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle 1/4" away from the sewn seam.

8. Follow Figure 10 for the seam direction to add a 2 ½” Fabric N square to each of the remaining corners of the 4 ½” Fabric E square to make one E block (Fig. 11). make 12 N

15. Sew six E strips, three CDN blocks and two HGN blocks together to make one EE strip (Fig. 17). Repeat to make a second EE strip. make 2

Quilt Assembly – Refer to the Quilt Layout while assembling the quilt top: 16. Sew one 1 ½” x 64 ½” Fabric B strip to the top and to the bottom of one 3 ½” x 64 ½” Fabric I strip to make one BI strip. Repeat to make a second BI strip. 17. Sew one 1 ½” x 64 ½” Fabric B strip to the top and to the bottom of one 8 ½” x 64 ½” Fabric M strip to make one BM strip. Repeat to make a second BM strip. 18. Sew one 1 ½” x 64 ½” Fabric B strip to the top and to the bottom of one 20 ½” x 64 ½” Fabric A strip to make one BA strip. 19. Sew the two BM strips, two KK strips, two BI strips, two EE strips and one BA strip together lengthwise to make the quilt top. 20. Layer and quilt as desired. 21. Sew the eight 2 ½” x WOF Fabric B strips together, end to end with 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half, lengthwise with wrong sides together, and press. 22. Bind as desired.
