Philosophy Our main focus as coaches will be to educate our athletes on life lessons through the game of soccer. We will be using both practices and games to help develop each player to be a stronger individual within a team. They will be responsible not only for themselves, but for each other as well. Each player will need to learn how to trust their teammates both on and off the field. Our players will be respectful of each other’s individual differences, and learn to see things from the other person’s point of view. Most importantly, the team will be disciplined as a whole for the mistakes of each individual player just like in a game.
Attendance Our players are expected to attend all soccer related events scheduled. As a member of this program, each player is required to communicate with his coach individually. If a player is unable to attend an activity, then that player will need to contact his coach prior to that event (NOT THE PARENTS). This is the player’s responsibility, and if the player does not contact his coach prior to an event the team will be disciplined.
Unexcused Absences An unexcused absence is when a player misses any type of practice session. Most unexcused absences are for events that could have been rescheduled. It is to the coach’s discretion if an absence will be categorized as unexcused. Unexcused absences will result in a one game suspension for each day that the player is not in attendance.
Excused Absences An excused absence is when a player misses any type of practice due to illness or if some type of emergency situation arises that is out of his control. The coach will make the decision whether the absence will be excused. The player still must communicate with his coach prior to each absence.
Tardiness Each player is expected to be 15 minutes early to each game warm-up and training session. If a player is late to any of our team related activities without communicating with his coach prior to the start time of that event, then the team will be disciplined.

Eligibility In our soccer program, a player is a student first and an athlete second. If a player is ever receiving a failing grade in any of his classes during the season, then he will be suspended from practices and games until his grade has been brought back up to passing.
Injuries If a player becomes injured during the season we will ask that our athletic trainer evaluate the player. That player will be expected to attend practices even if he is injured. If injured for more than one day that player is expected to see a doctor and have a note the next day explaining the extent of his injury.
Transportation Practices The player is responsible for working out pick-up times with his/her parents. Junior varsity & freshmen team players will have a much more structured schedule, but the varsity players’ training schedule will change on a daily basis. Younger varsity players are encouraged to have car pool buddies with their older teammates that have cars for the entire season. If a coach has to wait for a player to be picked up, then the team will be disciplined.
Away Games The players will travel as a team to all away games together, and return home as a team together on the team bus. This is a valuable time for individual and group reflection for our teams. Only for an emergency situation will a player be permitted to drive home with his family. A note must be provided to the coach prior to that athlete’s departure.
Equipment Each athlete is responsible for the equipment issued to him at the beginning of the season. He will be fined for any equipment that is damaged or lost. It is the athlete’s responsibility to be prepared for any and all weather conditions.

Player Conduct Participation in high school sports is a privilege, not a right. Players should represent their family, school, and team in a respectful matter. Social media avenues should not be used in any negative way towards teammates, the program, the school, and opponents. Hazing, bullying, or any other harassing behavior is strictly prohibited. Any instance of this type of misconduct should be reported immediately. In cooperation with school administration disciplinary actions will be taken on players that choose to represent us the wrong way.
Parent Conduct Of course we want the parents to cheer on the team at each game, but there are so many other things that the coaches would like to see the parents involved with. Things like senior night, pack the stand night, concessions, team dinners, pre-game snacks, post-game snacks, fundraisers, and pretty much anything that will help both their child and the program in a positive way. We as coaches only ask that parents refrain from doing a couple of things. First would be coaching the players from the other sideline. We have no problem with parents cheering on the team, but we will have a problem with a parent giving specific feedback that can alter the way a player performs during a game. This type of behavior will result in one of our assistant coaches coming over to ask that parent to politely stop. If a parent continues to coach from the stands we will ask that the parent to go home for the remainder of the game. We will then contact that parent the following day, and if we have another situation like this before the end of the season that family will be asked to leave the program. The second situation that has become an issue would be parents contacting coaches before their child has talked with the coach first. Most of the issues that a player has can easily be resolved if he would just talk to his coach. It is the player’s responsibility to contact the coach first if any issues arise. If a parent/player/coach meeting needs to be held, then the player will set up the meeting with the coach. No issues will be discussed with parents before a player has approached a coach about that specific issue. Most of all, we just ask that parents trust that the coaches have their sons best interest at heart. The time that a player is given to the coaches for practices and games should be respected as the coaches’ time. Please allow us the chance to develop our team without any parental distractions. In other words, the two or three hours we have with your child each day we would like that you respect our boundaries.
