Centrilift ESP System with 400FLEXPump10 Pump Increased Oil Production by 42% in Bakken Unconventional Oil Well Location: North Dakota requested an ESP system that could ride through the gas-related shutdowns as well as increase the drawdown and production rate. Baker Hughes engineers decided to install a 400FLEXPump10 pump designed to handle high gas and increase production at lower pump intake pressure (PIP). The ESP system for this application also included a Centrilift Multiphase Pump (MVP™), which is designed to handle excessive free gas and gas slugging.

Centrilift FLEXPump series pumps provide operational flexibility in varying well conditions like this operator’s Bakken well. The 400FLEXPump10 pump improved gas handling and increased ESP uptime. The 400FLEXPump10 pump worked along with the MVP pump and handled more free gas for improved fluid level drawdown.

A Bakken operator’s well in North Dakota experienced excessive downtime and lost production with existing electrical submersible pumping (ESP) system. Additionally, the ESP system maintained a high fluid level, which produced less-thanoptimal drawdown and productivity. The operator sought a better solution from Baker Hughes Artificial Lift Systems, and

After installation of this new ESP system from Baker Hughes, oil production increased 42%. Proprietary variable speed drive (VSD) software was another key technology that assisted with ESP system ride-through during gas slugs and kept the system continuously operational.
