Validity This certificate was first issued on 1st October 2012 and is valid until 1st October 2016. Issue Dated 22nd October 2015
This Registered Detail applies to the manufacture of loose foam glass granulate/foam glass ballast and its use as loose fill thermal insulation. Foam glass granulate/foam glass ballast (to be referred to hereinafter as thermal insulation material) is an artificial broken aggregate that is produced from recycled waste glass granules < 60 mm by means of foaming. At the place of use, a thermal insulating layer is produced using the thermal insulation material in question by means of tipping and compacting. The name of the thermal insulation material is "TECHNOpor Perimeter 50". The application is for the concept of the design and therefore requires calculations for each application to support the site conditions applicable.
Supplementary protection is required where the ground contains gas, for example radon. A site specific calculation is required with each application, which will include all design criteria and topography. Appropriate thermal analysis will be provided in each instance to demonstrate continued compliance with Approved Document L 2013. It is important to note that the design works well with a stable base and any ground variations such a mining or localised soft spots will need additional measures as the product is not designed to bridge an area of weakness. Where poor bearing capacity is in evidence the system should always include a Geogrid. For Scotland purposes: That the specifications and materials referred to have been assessed in accordance with the Building (Scotland) Regulations 2004 and in accordance with the supporting guidance in the Domestic Technical Handbooks which came into force with effect from 1 October 2013. That where reference is made on a plan or specification document to any Code of Practice, British or European Standard or manufacturer’s instruction it shall be construed as a reference to such publication in the form in which it is in force at the date of this Registered Detail. That the materials specified shall be for purposes of this Registered Detail and should not be changed without first gaining approval so to do from Local Authority Building Standards Scotland [LABSS]. Failure to do so will invalidate the Registered Detail. That the Registered Detail shall be valid for a period of 12 months from the date of issue or until otherwise invalidated by formal notice by LABSS. The Registered Detail may be re-validated after 12 months following a request and payment of an annual renewal fee from the Registered Detail Holder. This Registered Detail should not be regarded as a formal approval under the building warrant process prescribed by the Building (Scotland) Act 2003 enacted from 1 May 2005 That this Registered Detail shall contribute to compliance with relevant Mandatory Standards specified under the Building (Scotland) Regulations 2004 as amended when read with the scope, conditions and regulations sections to this Registered Detail.
