Introduction • This session is intended to promote open discussion between instrument manufacturers and users on novel technology implementation and long term use • Discussion topics are relevant to any platforms (regardless of whether it is single vendor or not) • We have 3 major platforms as examples – Vendors: Mass Spec, qPCR, and MSD (ligand binding assay) – Users: Biotech, Pharma, and CRO

Biography: Damien Luk – Sr Director of Product Management, qPCR Systems Damien Luk has more than 15 years in managing innovative solutions for genetics analysis, from sample prep to real-time PCR instruments. Damien earned his bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering from UC Berkeley.

Biography: James Wilbur– General Manager, Meso Scale Discovery James Wilbur has more than 20 years experience as a Life Sciences Executive. He has been at Meso Scale Discovery since the company started. He earned a Bachelor’s degree from U.C. San Diego, received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Stanford University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Chemistry at Harvard University.

Biography: Phyllis Conliffe, Executive Director, Smithers Avanza Bioanalytical Services Dr. Phyllis Conliffe is the Executive Director of Smithers Avanza Bioanalytical Services. Previously, she was the Lab Director for Tandem Labs where she held scientific and management roles in the Biotechnology Services division. Prior to Tandem Labs, she held the position of North America Applications Manager at IGEN/BioVeris. She was instrumental in the initiation and establishment of bioanalytical laboratories at all three companies. Dr. Conliffe holds a BSc. and PhD from McGill University in Montreal Canada and has close to 20 years experience providing scientific support and technical leadership in the drug discovery industry.
