Thank you for your support of Flyer athletics. As a member of the Champions & Scholars Fund, you are creating academic and athletic opportunities for more than 400 student-athletes and future graduates of the University of Dayton. Like our coaches and student-athletes, you believe in academic and athletic excellence -- the hallmark of Flyer athletics. But even as we win championships and successfully graduate our student-athletes in numbers we have never achieved before, new challenges continue to appear in the constantly changing world of intercollegiate athletics. Champions & Scholars Fund members have done a terrific job of establishing a strong foundation for assisting with our challenges. However, growing our membership is the key to our sustained and improved success. I hope you will consider our Champions & Scholars Fund initiative and help us reach our goal of becoming more than 3,000 strong. Thank you once again for being part of our team. Go Flyers!

SCHOLARSHIPS SUPPORT SUCCESS

CHAMPIONS & SCHOLARS FUND

Annual scholarship support is essential to provide the best competitive and academic experience for our studentathletes. Each year, Champions & Scholars Fund members create opportunities by funding scholarships to more than 400 UD student-athletes — students who make an impact in the classroom, in competition and in the community.

HOW DO YOU DEFINE INSPIRATION? Ask a UD student-athlete. University of Dayton coaches play an enormous role in the lives of our students. They are mentors, role models and teachers, and they become like family for so many student-athletes. Through their dedication and discipline, they inspire success on and off the field of competition.

THE FUNDAMENTALS ARE ESSENTIAL. Even the best student-athletes and coaches have difficulty achieving success without a well-funded operating budget. As annual costs continue to escalate, Champions & Scholars Fund support makes possible the following expenses:

Team travel to preseason, conference and postseason tournament games

Coaches’ travel to scout and recruit prospects

THE FOUNDATIONS FOR SUCCESS

BUILDING A COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE

Facility upgrades are vital to improving UD student-athletes’ competitive edge for academic and athletic success. New facilities also provide retention for top coaches and improved recruitment for prospective student-athletes.

ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE CENTER

In the last 10 years, UD has invested $35 million in its athletics facilities ($29 million coming from private donations and corporate support). Additionally, the on-campus home for every Flyer team has been either newly constructed or renovated.

NEW OR RENOVATED FACILITIES • Baujan Field (soccer) • Cronin Athletics Center (total sports program) • Frericks Center (volleyball and expanded weight room for all programs) • Graul Tennis Complex (tennis) • UD Softball Stadium (softball) • Woerner Field at Time Warner Cable Stadium (baseball) • University of Dayton Arena (basketball)

10

The construction of a 10,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art Athletic Performance Center will benefit all of Dayton’s sports programs. The location will allow nearly all 410 of the University’s student-athletes to train, practice and study within a 500-foot radius. The 1,800-square-foot basketball weight room at the Donoher Center will be relocated to this facility.

DONOHER BASKETBALL CENTER The move of the Donoher Basketball Center weight room to the Athletic Performance Center on campus allows the University to modernize the entire Donoher Center. This includes upgrades to technology, locker rooms and meeting spaces for the Flyer basketball and football teams.

FRERICKS CENTER The next phase in the Frericks Center renovation includes a new locker room for UD’s nationally ranked volleyball team, enhanced game day and practice environments, an atrium and improved offices. Contact Brian Tracy at 937-229-3999 for more information.
