A WORD FROM PASTOR MARIE Times are changing everywhere! These colossal changes have affected everything in its sphere: culturally – identity is being changed; morally – conduct has changed; physically family and community structures have changed; economically – injustices and greed dominate; socially – sexuality is eroded; and spiritually – fear of the Lord has certainly diminished. Some changes are good; some changes are necessary; and change is mandated in the Word of the Lord as God declares that He (God) changes times and seasons, but “Praise be to the name of God forever and ever; wisdom and power are His.” (Daniel 2:20) My friends, as you are now embracing all that 2014 has been dispensing, may I encourage you to change your mindset by devoting yourself to the reading of God’s Word daily. Why not read a Proverb and a Psalm each day? This type of wisdom will cause everyone to know how to live well before God, before others, and embrace God’s best for your personal lives. These changing days require bedrock Word! Be Blessed, Rev Marie Miller

PARADOX IN THE CONGO

On my very first mission trip to the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2001, I was devastated to observe their conditions. As I returned regularly for several years, I reminded the people to continually place hope in God and to hold onto God’s eternal Word, which will keep them in perfect peace. Then in 2006, I had the privilege of showing them a picture of the new missionaries coming to the Congo to support and encourage them. Pierre and Marielle Paradis have been serving in the Katanga Province of Congo since then. They served faithfully in Lubumbashi and assisted the Church with building a new Bible College, and establishing Child Care Plus. Now as they transition to work in a French ministry operating out of South Africa, I pray God will rise up Francophone workers and Anglophone workers to partner with both the Congolese

brethren and Missionary Exposure Training in Pretoria, South Africa. It was my joy to come alongside them and minister in this country that has been in my heart and a God given mission for so many years. Greater yet to see the abundance of fruit! There are great changes coming to the cities, but the multitudes that are still extremely poor cannot find their way out of the depths of poverty. Brokenheartedly you walk away wondering how can we ever reach these multitudes with the hope of the Gospel of Christ, and with social and economical assistance which is so desperately needed?

TRANSFORMATION IN ZAMBIA It was also a pleasure to return to Kitwe, Zambia and see the enormous changes there. New roads have been developed; many sections of the city are under rapid construction with new malls, new houses, new businesses, and new hotels. The change is occurring quickly. It is truly great to see such development, but it alarmed my spirit as such rapidity will ultimately be a blessing to those who are rich, but will become a greater detriment to those who are poor. The city seems blessed, hence, the villagers come into these areas to embrace the new economical era – a shift that may cause greater poverty to those who come without resources, skills, community homes, family structures and educational levels. Here again is the paradox of changing times leading to future economical disparity and greater social inequality. It excites my heart to see how churches have risen to the challenges of changing times and are advancing with them. Their progress is extremely exciting because great leaders such as Bishop Harrison Sakala are still teaching solid doctrine, still laboring for God’s kingdom and still encouraging the numerically large young and impressionable generation to stick to the Word of God. As I ministered the Word of God in that setting, it was exhilarating to sense the people soak up His Word like sponges. They left charged and empowered for service. WOW – I am in awe of what God is doing with the young people there!

One of the most exciting spiritual highlights for me was to hear of the impact Foundations Ministries has had on the lives and ministries of so many people over the past fifteen years. I have been going in and out of these countries – simply offering a cup of water and the bread of life.

her ministry. From words of knowledge spoken into people’s lives to ministry placements that have borne fruit over many years, we were constantly reminded of the tremendous influence Foundations Ministries has had on individual lives in the countries we visited. What a great testimony. Lastly, the trip was enjoyable because I was able to see for myself the great work being done at the Villages of Hope in Kitwe and Chongwe in Zambia. The work is very encouraging since children are provided with good education and will be able to take advantage of the tremendous prosperity being made available through industrialization taking place in Zambia. ANOTHER PERSPECTIVE

My trip with Pastor Marie to the Congo DR and Zambia was very enjoyable for several reasons. Firstly, I got a greater appreciation of what it takes to be an Evangelist. Before taking this trip, I had no appreciation of the tremendous logistical skill needed to plan trips around the continent of Africa. The visas, land transportation, boarder fees, hotels, meals and ministry events take a lot of coordinating. Secondly, I learned that a commitment to a cause can have great benefit. In both countries visited, we were constantly meeting people whom Pastor Marie has been in contact with over the years and whose lives have been impacted by

Coming to your city!

There were so many special moments, but one of my favourite moments was when Pastor Miller encouraged the church members to pray for one another and not for their own situations. Women with women and men with men prayed in earnest for each other as if they were bringing their own troubles to the throne of Grace. Together with my Congolese brothers and sisters we have sought the face of the Lord for this country and we believe that God will answer our prayers because “the prayers of the righteousness availeth much” (James 5:16 KJV). –Sara Matthieu, Laval, Quebec
