Chapter Excellence Awards PHCC’s Chapter Excellence Awards recognize chapters for outstanding achievement in both management and service to PHCC members. The Excellence Award objectives emphasize a chapter’s performance in: u Programs/Education goals u Management u Membership Development u Communications u Advocacy / Consumer Awareness Eligibility: All PHCC Chapters Submission and Judging Criteria: Submit the nomination cover sheet/checklist with a synopsis of chapter activities, accomplishments and achievements (Jan. 1 - Dec. 31, 2015) limited to 10 pages (no faxes please), as outlined below. Note, the ten-page limit excludes covers, table of contents and addenda. Addenda, if included, may be samples of documents such as program announcements, newsletters, prospective member kits, press releases, etc. It is helpful for the judges to organize activity by criteria.

Total Possible Points – 100 Program/Education Goals and Program Description (20 points) u Demonstrate chapter’s ability to provide education opportunities to members and their technicians (business management, emerging markets, tech training, apprenticeship programs, journeyman training, scholarships, etc.) u Program creativity / diversity u Networking opportunities u Trade Shows / Convention Marketing Communications (20 points) u Messaging & Brand Consistency u Chapter magazines, newsletters / electronic news / faxes u Membership directories u Web Site u Membership marketing materials u Surveys u Member welcome/renewal

Management (20 points) u Zone Reports/Annual Affiliate Agreements u Chapter business plan/strategic plan u Budget Process / Financial Health u If State Association, support /involvement with local chapters u Member services / benefits u Chapter leadership development u Process to train chapter board members and successors u Industry contributions (e.g. promotion of trade as a lucrative career path, scholarship program, involvement on plumbing boards, code committees, advocacy issues, licensing and continuing education) u Relationships with Wholesalers, Manufacturers and other organizations u Participation in National Events

Membership Development (20 points) u Messaging & Brand Consistency u Innovative/ongoing recruitment and retention programs u Annual membership drive program u New member orientation program u Strategies for involving members

Advocacy / Consumer Awareness (20 points) u Demonstrate chapter’s ability to influence state/local legislative and regulatory issues, Code specifications, etc. u Relationships with other construction / small business organizations u Efforts to promote hiring a professional plumbing, heating, cooling contractor u Consumer education initiatives u Community service activities u Messaging & Brand Consistency

Awards: Nominations will be considered in two organization classifications – State Associations and Local Chapters. Three awards are available in each class to recognize PHCC organizations in each of these size categories: State Associations: Small (0-50 members), Medium (51-150 members), Large (151+ members) Local Chapters: Small (0-25 members), Medium (26-50 members), Large (51+ members) Awards will be presented during PHCC’s Chapter Leadership Program, Oct. 19, 2016, in San Antonio, TX. Both state and local organizations must score a minimum of 70 points to be considered for an award. All chapters receiving 70 points or more will be recognized as a 2016 Distinguished Chapter and earn the right to use the designation on member communications, website and marketing materials. Deadline: All submissions are due to the PHCC national office no later than August 15, 2016. Submit each entry to PHCC National Association, 180 S. Notification: Winners will be notified no later than August 31, 2016.

Chapter Excellence Awards Criteria Checklist Instructions: Organize your nomination by the following criteria, indicating if you’ve included a short description and supporting documentation (a narrative stating ‘yes, we do this’ will not provide the judges with enough information to evaluate the activity.) You may also to include a summary of activities. (Note: This is an overall management award. Not having an entry in each criteria does not disqualify your chapter.
