____________________________________________________________ Chasing God: Thirsty for More – Pastor Mark Pope November 11 & 12, 2017
1. Read Psalm 63:1-8. What is David’s frame of mind in this psalm? Why does he crave more of God? 2. If you are reading these questions BEFORE the fast, do you plan to fast? What is your plan for fasting; all 3 days, water only, etc.? In place of eating, what do you plan to do? 3. If you are reading these questions AFTER the fast, did you join the corporate fast? Share your experiences. 4. Pastor Mark mentioned he has an appetite for chips. What kinds of things (good or bad) do you have an appetite for? 5. Describe your current appetite for God—are you hungry, satisfied, or currently have little or no appetite? Does the idea of Chasing God appeal to you? Why or why not? 6. Read Genesis 25:29-32 and Mark 2:3-4 Esau traded his future to Jacob for a simple meal. In contrast, a paralyzed man’s friends sacrificed to get their friend to Jesus. How did Esau’s and the paralytic man’s futures change because of the different attitudes regarding pursuing God? 7. Is there a time when you, like the friends of the paralyzed man, did something extraordinary to pursue God? Share the circumstances and the outcome. Was the effort worth it? 8. What is something you will go out of your way for? A certain food, sports activity, visit with a friend? Have you ever gone “out of your way” in pursuit of God? What did that look like for you? 9. Pastor Mark said, “You’ll have to make a choice to chase God.” What choices or changes do you need to make today to really chase the Lord?
