Chad introduced the board members to the new Chatfield High School Baseball Coach, Paul Grubesic who is all about communication: text, e-mail, SOS’s, road trips and making every the CHS Baseball experience a great one! Coach Grubesic has chosen staff for Varsity: Scott Gross and Drew Christopherson, Jeff Barnes and Haines will be JV Coaches. Arizona Tournament Paul would like to do the Coach Bob Tournament which includes 4 Championship and one Open league Chad agreed to get details, player fees, check on Embassy Suites, limo bus since team will be taking a road trip to AZ. There will be three boys to a room and Coach Grubesic will determine who bunks with whom. Coach’s trip is paid for by the Diamond Club. Tournament dates are March 23-27 with the first game on Monday. The team will probably leave on Saturday (depending on the game at Coors Field if played) with a max of 18 players. Total rooms booked will be 9 (6 for players and 3 for coaches). Potential Game at Coors Field Rockies game tentatively scheduled for Friday, March 20 and Chatfield we will not be playing Horizon HS. The team pays $30k to play on Coors Field and we make a $2-3,000 profit. Coach Grubesic will poll players to see how important this event is for them since it is a hugh commitment for the Diamond Club (and Chris) with a small return for the club; need to make a commitment by December.
Some things that Coach Grubesic committed to included: Researching & purchasing equipment, uniforms, etc on-line and not purchasing through JSP (will be meeting with a Nike rep for comparison pricing) Remodeling the coaches office Running an independent (his own) summer baseball program Taking $250 off the player fees Reviewing the current budget, expenses provided by Tanya Next meeting is yet to be determined; it will be a meet and greet with Baseball players and parents and we will discuss fundraising opportunities.
