Chenille or Not (or Faux Chenille Blanket/Wall Hanging)
Skill level: Beginner Special Skills required: Basic knowledge of machine use Description: Make your own cut chenille blanket or wall hanging. It is reminiscent of the “caterpillar” look for which it was named. Fun to look at or soft to hold, these layers of cotton fabrics are sewn into rows then cut and washed to create a faux chenille look. You will love the finished results!
Sewing Machine in good working order o Foot control and power cord Accessories: o Even Feed Walking foot and Guide Bar* Needles o Size 80/12 quilting needles* Thread o All-purpose thread that matches the main color of your front fabric panel * Notions o Fiskars Chenille Rotary Cutter & replacement blades* o Standard rotary cutter for squaring * o 24” Ruler * o Disappearing fabric marker (optional) * o Chenille Fluffing Brush (optional) * o Scissors & Pins* Fabric o 3 identical non-stretch panels measuring 36” x 41” * can be done with smaller panels, but it may not be big enough for a blanket. o 1 1/4 yards backing fabric to coordinate with the front panel o Binding to coordinate with chosen panels and backing, or make your own
