Chicago KICS United FC Community Academy Coaching Curriculum (U10, Week 1 & 2)

ACTIVITY #1 Set up: 20 x 20 box (Adjust size for skill level) Each player needs a ball Instructions: Players dribbling around the box using different techniques. 1. laces dribbling 2.inside touches 3. toe-tap/ball taps 4.inside outside of the foot-right foot 5.inside outside of the foot-left foot 5.pull back 6.inside cut 7.outside cut 8.Creff Turn 9.Scissors, 10.Lunge 11.step-over 12.maradona 13. sole of the foot roll (choose the techniques that are age appropriate Coaching Points: keep the ball close, quick and short touches, find the open space

ACTIVITY #2 Set up: 1 vs 1 to 2 goals 2 teams 25 x 25 box (adjust size for skill level) Instructions: Red player dribbles out, and tries to score in one of the two goals the yellow team is defending, if the the yellow player gets the ball then they must try and score on one of the other two red goals Coaching Points: change direction, cut the ball, fake one way and go the other, change direction and change speed

ACTIVITY #3 Set up: 2 vs. 2 transition to 4 goals 35 x 40 ( adjust space wider if you want a lot of switching, adjust space to be longer to force players to be more creative in getting around defenders) Instructions: 2 players try to score on 2 goals, if the defenders steal the ball they try to counter and score on the opposing goals. If the ball goes in the goal or across the endline a new group of 2 players come on to the field. If a team scores twice they automatically must come off and a new team must come on. Coaching Points: attacking the space, go at defenders with pace, take advantage of players caught high in the attack, use coerver moves and fakes

ACTIVITY #4 Set up: 3v3, 4 goal 15 (long) x 20 (wide) grid (adjust as needed)- keep space tight so we create 1v1 match ups. 1 yard goals Instructions: Players play 3v3 to two goals. Keep score, 7 minute halves. Switch players every 2 minutes in order to keep all players involved. Coaching Points: play away from pressure, 45 degree angles of support, movement off the ball, look for quick combos-give and go, overlaps, through passes

ACTIVITY #5 Set up: 4 vs 4 or 3 vs 3 and GKS 5 vs 5 or 4 vs 4 and GKS Instructions: Goalies or no Goalies depending on the topic. Coaching Points:

ACTIVITY #6 Set up: Dribbling warm up 2 lines across from each other every player needs a ball Instructions: players dribble to the middle and do a move/fake and dribble to the second line. next person dribbles foward once the player gets to their line. variation-2 players going at the same time from each line Coaching Points: work on coerver moves, dribbling patterns, change of direction

ACTIVITY #7 Set up: 1 vs 1 to 3 goals 2 lines-offensive players with a soccer ball, defensive players no ball 3 goals 15 x 15 yard grid Instructions: offensive players try to score in one of 3 goals defenders try to stop attackers play starts when the defender runs to the middle of the field-then the attacker enters the play with the ball switch offense and defense team with the most goals wins Coaching Points: use cuts and fakes/coerver moves, change of direction and change of pace, protect the ball, fake one way go the other

ACTIVITY #8 Set up: 2 vs 2 around the goals 2 teams 25 x 30 grid (adjust the size to the skill level of players) coach has the soccer balls on the side of the field Instructions: coach yells go and the players run around their goal and onto the field the coach plays the ball into the field play is dead when the ball goes out of bounce or a goal is scored team to reach 6 goals wins (adjust number of goals based on players skills) Coaching Points: attack the ball, one player to the ball, when your teammate has the ball get open off the ball, find the open space, try to get to goal quickly
