fter a globe-trotting career that saw him win big races in Australia and the UK, Choisir has proven his worth as a stallion, siring 67 stakes winners in Australia, England, New Zealand, America and France. Crowned Champion Sprinter of Europe and Australia, Starspangledbanner (an emerging stallion faring well in both hemispheres) – winner of two Gr.1 races each in the UK and Australia – is Choisir’s best performed galloper to date. Other Gr.1 winners for Choisir include Sacred Choice, Olympic Glory, Obviously, Choice Bro, Kushadasi and Historian. With many of his sons gelded he does not however have a large number of sons at stud but on offer for the smaller breeder is the handsome lightly raced sprinter Choistar. A strong chestnut built in the mould of his sire, Choistar displayed immediate ability – at just his third start at two taking out the Listed Fernhill Handicap by a stunning five lengths. Choistar hit the ground running as a stallion, his very first runner Magic Square proving too strong over 1000m at the Sunshine Coast on debut. And in late May Sienna Son, just his third runner, caught the eye with a fast finishing debut second at Toowoomba. Bred on a 4 X 4 cross of speed influence Biscay, Choistar is a son of the durable and versatile Star Watch mare Sveldte – a metropolitan winner of 12 races from
