March 2015 Dear Smithtown Youth Football League Coaches, It is with great pleasure that I write this letter to you. Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Chris Denton and I am the new High School East Head Varsity Football Coach. I come to this position as being a long time assistant in the East Football Program. I have worked under former head coaches Pete Melore and Jimmy Saladino. I would like to inform you of three upcoming events where you are all invited to attend, take notes, ask questions, or just take in some football instruction.
Quarterbacks Clinic: This clinic will be geared towards all quarterbacks program wide grades 7-12. Footwork, fundamentals, mental and physical reads, teaching our spread offense and reading and understanding defenses will be our primary goals to come from this clinic. The clinic will be held at On The Go Fitness in Nesconset. (80 Lake Ave. South, Nesconset, NY 11767) It will take place on the following Tuesdays from 4:30-5:30PM: Feb. 3rd, 10th, 24th, March 3rd, & 10th. Offensive Line Clinic: This clinic will be geared towards the high school offensive linemen, varsity and junior varsity. We will teach footwork, fundamentals, drills and play installation. Although, we will be teaching the high school linemen, the drills which will be taught are applicable across all levels of football. The clinic will be held at On The Go Fitness in Nesconset. (80 Lake Ave. South, Nesconset, NY 11767) It will take place on the following Tuesdays from 2:30-3:30PM: March 31st, April 7th (this is during the April break time TBD) April 14th, 21st, & 28th. East Football Mini Camp: This will be the perfect opportunity for the youth coaches to interact with all East Football coaches from the middle school level through the varsity level. You will be able to take in a true high school practice and learn aspects from the offensive and defensive side of the ball as well as some special teams. All coaches will be available to answer questions throughout the practices. These dates are not solidified yet but are usually the last week in June, just before the July 4th weekend. All practices will be at High School East and will begin at 4:30PM and conclude at approximately 7:30PM. Any coach who wants to stop down is welcome to come by. You may also bring your son or any team members to our practices to see our kids in action. Please keep checking back for the exact dates and more specific information regarding this camp.
