Christ Community Church MARCH, 2019

March 14, 2019

A MESSAGE FROM PASTOR PAUL . . . STAY IN TOUCH Paul Sanders, Sr. Pastor 431-6688 Roger Sowder, Associate Pastor 238-9340 Jim Perry, Youth Director 449-5609 Jason Cornwell, Assistant Pastor of Worship 363-4201 Steve Wearden, Ministry Staff Assistant 803-460-7871

FOR YOUR INFORMATION . . . Check out the Resource Materials in the ADS hallway near the Youth Room. Good reading! There are copies of the current Update and additional resources available in the Atrium.

THIS WEEK ON . . . BEING BUILT UP . . . A SERIES ON THE BOOK OF NEHEMIAH I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:1-2 God’s spiritual restoration had begun in Jerusalem. Ezra read the Word of God and preached. Other spiritual leaders walked among the people and gave further explanation. The people were grieved over their sin. Nehemiah moved them quickly from mourning to rejoicing because of the joy of the Lord. They reinstituted the Feast of Tabernacles and celebrated what God had done in the past and looked forward with hope to the future. They returned to confession and repentance. What now? In this week’s text, the people of God engage in Covenant renewal. Because of God’s grace and mercy, they commit themselves to conformity to the Word of God. What a testimony. What a prayer to pray for us as God’s church at Christ Community. Let’s consider our own need for covenant renewal and commitment to conforming our lives according to the Word of God. See you Sunday!

"In 7 @ 7" is going strong but we are few in number. Men, women, teen-

agers, retirees, ALL invited to come and join your hearts together in prayer for our body of Christ's Church at CCC. We pray each week for our missionaries, our pastoral staff, church leaders, ministry leaders, our congregation, children, youth, elderly, for God's direction, for the world, our governmental leadership, our protection from sin, from harm, from idolatry, from counterfeit images of God's perfect gifts, from the world, and from Satan. Come and add your prayers - the Lord even hears silent prayers from His saints. Here are two quotes from well-known theologians for consideration: “The one concern of the devil is to keep Christians from praying. He fears nothing from prayerless studies, prayerless work and prayerless religion. He laughs at our toil, mocks at our wisdom, but he trembles when we pray.” Samuel Chadwick

MANAGE YOUR GIVING We want to remind you that we offer electronic giving as a convenient way to automate your weekly giving. Electronic giving offers convenience for individual’s and provides much-needed consistency for our church’s budget. Go to www.christcommunitychurchonline.org to set up an automatic donation plan, to change your donation plan, or to make a one-time special gift. You can also view your online giving history.

MERCY MINISTRY GIVING . . . Our One Fund budgets for mercy ministry. You do not need to ‘ear mark’ mercy funding gifts any longer. Any who typically gave above and beyond to the fund are asked to simply add that amount to their regular giving. We will make appeals for designated giving only when specific needs arise that are beyond our budget.

SOME INFORMATION FROM PASTOR PAUL, regarding foster parenting. . . Hey Church, Bill and Aimee Gobeli have received their first foster son this week. His name is Brandon and he's 9 years old. This is a huge transition for the Gobeli family and obviously a hard transition for Brandon as well. We are happy he will be at church with us for as long as he's with the Gobeli's. Let's all make Brandon feel welcome when we see him at church Sunday. Also, look to Bill and Aimee if you have any questions. Likewise, consider the ways you can encourage Bill, Aimee and the rest of the Gobeli kids. It will take a few weeks for them to figure out their new normal and the first few weeks can be exhausting. As a church we want to encourage families to adopt/foster and when they do we need to make sure we're doing everything we can to support and encourage them. There are other families at CCC considering this good but challenging work. Consider the following ways you might help support and wrap around them: 1.

A Take Them A Meal sign up has been sent out. Let's fill up the sign up list!

2.

Pray, pray, pray! Pray for Bill and Aimee. Pray for Brandon. And pray for Aiden, Marcus, Eden, Maddie and Julia.

3.

Drop them note of encouragement via text, email or snail mail.

4.

Drop off a little treat for the kids

5.

Offer to help with transportation getting any of the kids to sports practice.

6.

Offer to take Brandon out to give the Gobeli family a little break.

7.

Offer to take out one or more of the Gobeli kids to give them extra encouragement.

8.

Reach out to them with any other ways you would like to help.

9.

If you have any clothes to pass on to them, let them know. Foster kids usually only come with the clothes on their back. He wears a size 10-12 and size 5 Youth in shoes.

Our deacons want to present an opportunity to those that might be interested and able to serve fellow church members. We have several folks who are in need of basic yard support as we enter the lawn care season (Ex: grass mowing and trimming). If anyone is interested in volunteering their time to serve some folks, please contact our Chairman of the Deacons: Cal Gilvin at 864-901-4744 for more information.

WHAT IS THE WOMEN’S MONTHLY JOURNEY GROUP GATHERING? It is a time for women of all ages to gather and experience true fellowship with one another over God’s Word. We will meet monthly to hear a testimony, receive some teaching on a specific topic, and have small group discussion and prayer. Maybe you’ve tried a Journey Group in the past and are just not ready to take the leap and make the commitment. Maybe you simply don’t have the margin in your schedule right now for something weekly. Or maybe you’ve never heard of these groups . . . Join us once a month as we dip our toe in and get to know one another and consider what commitment to discipleship might mean. Call or email Abbye Cornwell for further information. UPCOMING DATES: April 9 and May 14 AbbyeCornwell @gmail.com 0R 706-713-1500
