• The Bucs movd to 13-9 all-time in GSC Tournament play with a 96-76 win Tuesday night over North Alabama in the quarterfinals of the VisitSpaceCoast. com GSC Championships. The Bucs head to Homewood, Alabama, this weekend looking for their third GSC championship: CBU also won league titles in 2008 and 2013. CBU’s .590 winning percentage is the second-highest of any active GSC member, only trailing Montevallo’s .688 (11-5). CBU is 4-1 all-time in the GSC semifinals. • CBU and West Florida meet for the 18th time Saturday night, with CBU leading the series 12-5. The teams have split the last eight meetings. This is the third GSC Tournament meeting for the two teams: CBU won 66-58 in the 2013 semifinals in Homewood, and they won 65-64 in last year’s quarterfinals at Canale Arena. UWF won this year’s lone regular season meeting, 76-66, at Canale Arena in January. • CBU is 5-2 all-time in the Pete Hanna Center. They went 3-0 in winning the 2013 GSC championship, and they were 2-1 in the 2014 GSC Tournament when they lost in the finals. CBU dropped a 90-80 decision to top-seeded Valdosta State in last year’s semifinals. • The Bucs were the only team in the GSC to place two players on the All-GSC First Team. Jeff Larkin and Adam Dieball are joined by Player of the Year Beau Justice (Valdosta St.), Marquill Smith (West Ga.) and Darryl Tucker (West Fla.).

South Regional Champs: 2009 2017-18 Buccaneer Basketball Notes GSC Champs: 2008, 2013 Scouting the Argos: West Florida is 26-3 this season, carrying an eight-game winning streak to Homewood after dropping two of thre at the end of January. GSC Coach of the Year Jeff Burkhamer’s Argos lead the GSC in six categories, CBU Men’s Basketball including steals (8.7 per game, 17th in the nation), turnovers forced (17.1 tpg, 2016-17 Overall Record 18-13 14th), turnover margin (+3.4 tpg, 20th) and scoring margin (+11.9 ppg, 18th). GSC Record/Finish 14-8/4th Senior guard DJ Thorpe leads the GSC and ranks fourth in the nation with 2.8 Final Nat’l Ranking (Poll) N/A steals per game, while senior forward Darryl Tucker leads the GSC and ranks Last Postseason Opp. Delta State 36th in the nation with 9.4 rpg, and he ranks ninth in the nation with 64.2 perResult L, 67-80, @ ‘17 Reg. Quarters cent field goal shooting. Tucker, a first team All-GSC nod, also leads the Argos Starters Returning/Lost 5/0 with 15.8 ppg and 1.5 bpg. Senior guard Marvin Jones scores 13.9 ppg, while Letterwinners Returning/Lost 10/3 senior guard Moter Deng adds 12.7 ppg with 6.4 rpg. Thorpe scores 12.1 ppg, and junior guard Rashaan Benson adds 10.5 ppg with a team-best 5.7 apg.

No. 15/14 UWF 76, CBU 66 (1/15/2018): After a first half that saw four ties, 13 lead changes and no lead of more than four points, West Florida used a 14-2 run to take a 55-45 lead with 11:18 remaining, and the Argos never trailed again. CBU came within 58-56 with 7:40 remaining, but UWF scored eight straight. A 9-2 CBU run brought them within 68-65 with 1:35 remaining, but the Argos outscored CBU 8-1 in the final 90 seconds. Joe Laravie led the Bucs with 27 points and five steals. Adam Dieball scored 18 with nine assists. Moter Deng led the Argos with 26 points and eight rebounds. DJ Thorpe and Darryl Tucker each scored 12 with seven rebounds, with Thorpe rabbing two steals and Tucker blocking two shots. UWF out-rebounded the Bucs 41-25. Bucs in the Record Books: Jeff Larkin and Adam Dieball are climbing up the CBU career record book in several categories. Larkin is eighth on the career scoring list with 1,745 points, 22 behind Nick Kohs (2005-09) for seventh. Dieball ranks 19th in career scoring, 13 points behind Corey Champion (199094) for 18th. He is fifth in career three-pointers with 223, trailing fourth-place Cory McArthy (2010-14) by three, and Adam Dieball is 10th with 158 career three-pointers, 42 behind ninth-place Justin Ray (2004-08). Larkin is also eighth with 151 career steals, five behind seventh-place Rodney Chapman (1997-2001). Dieball is fourth in assists with 434, 22 behind third-place Kyle Couvion (2006-10), and Larkin is 10th with 347, 25 behind Jake Bazeley (200105) and Phillip Haney (1983-87) for eighth. Dieball is ninth in career blocks with 80, one behind eighth-place Edmund Nabutete (1997-2001). Bucs on the Leaderboards: CBU ranks second in the nation in assist-toturnover ratio (1.88), seventh in assists per game (18.8) and 13th in turnovers per game (10.0). Individually, Brad Miller leads the nation with a 4.50 assist to turnover ratio with 90 assists against 20 turnovers. Adam Dieball is 16th in the nation, tops in the GSC, with 6.3 assists per game, and he is 82nd in the nation, sixth in the GSC, with 1.3 bpg. Jeff Larkin is 14th in the nation with 37:18 mpg, and Joe Laravie is 67th with 35:20 mpg.
