http://www.christineallsopp.com/2983479-trailers-footage EXPERIENCE AND DIRECTORS My experience as a Chief/HOD and in the craft is extensive. I broke the mould of the “strictly period” approach with the highly stylized and successful “Casanova” in 2005 for which I won a BAFTA nomination. I have 78 IMDB (68 screen) credits and have chiefed for notable feature directors including Kubrick, Herbie Wise, Sir Horace Ove, Sharon Maguire, Lewis Gilbert and have assisted on productions for Cronenberg, Sir Richard Eyre, Trevor Nunn and Steven Spielberg. I have 2 further BAFTA nominations for “The Woman in Black”, (1986) and “Margaret Thatcher – The Long Walk to Finchley”, (2006). In 2013 I designed the richly textured, stunning film “The Thirteenth Tale” for Oscar/BAFTA winning Producer David Heyman starring Vanessa Redgrave and Sophie Turner for Director, James Kent. More recently I designed “The Falling” a feature for Camp/Independent directed by Carol Morley starring Maisie Williams, Maxine Peake and Greta Scacchi, which was a joy in it’s simplicity with a surprise note or two as requested by Director, Carol Morley. Though smaller productions, they were exceedingly satisfying and creative. In 2014/15 I took over the feature film “Bitter Harvest” (Pinewood) at short notice (48 hrs) for 2 weeks filming. It required weaving the new footage in with previously shot footage and “improvements” requested by the director and producer. It also required some huge and quite ‘spontaneous’ key make-up effects including a fullon full-body burn, which licked flames all around the artist’s head resulting in the character dying of the visible burns on the floor. They were very, very happy with my results. I can also do very ‘ordinary’, contemporary looks as I did on Jo Hartley for “David Brent - Life on the Road”. I come from a make-up dynasty, my mother, Connie Reeve, 3 uncles and aunt, were feature makeup artists. I literally grew up on film sets. I’ve also made up 2 Prime Ministers at No.10 Downing St., which was a thrill. I’ve worked in Europe, Africa, the Caribbean and Cardiff.

MY ONLINE PORTFOLIO Far more than a CV, I’m told it’s a new and effective way to see on screen proof of my work and credits. By the way, I built this web site myself on the Format.com platform, which is a fabulous platform on which to work – it’s a doddle – and I highly recommend it. http://www.christineallsopp.com/2983479-trailers-footage

BUDGETS AND DESIGN I can budget both supplies and crew accurately and have always done so, it is the reason why Malcolm Craddock hired me to do the first 2 “Hornblowers” which at the time was a terrifyingly big undertaking for all concerned. I did exactly as Malcolm asked and I delivered on budget. Working with the LP and 1st AD for the best feasibilities from the start is essential. I draw on 30 years of experience to do this. I mayn’t have a magic wand, but I have worked some magical strokes of design on a variety of budgets over the years. REPRESENTATION After being a client of 3 agents in 11 years, I recently chose to return to representing myself, (as I did from 1980-2005). This is to ensure my name is put up for projects that really interest me and for which my skillset is particularly suitable in a more focused way. If you’ve ever received a ‘pile’ of random CV’s you’ll know what I mean, and anyway - that’s not what I’d call ‘representation’. I’ve found that people do find me if they know and value my work – and better still remember me and come back to me, so I must do something right, it’s the best vibe. FOOTNOTE I took 2014/15 out from designing for family reasons and have enjoyed many dailies on 14+ projects, on big budget studio features, long running TV dramas and commercials. It’s been refreshing and useful to see how others work and to refresh and update my contacts. date
