GBC Building Update APRIL 2011!

After three years, the plans have

come together.

Finding the Balance: 3 questions that help. Building for today, tomorrow, and the future. There are many factors that go into a new church building. From the needs of current ministries, to the needs of ministries that might exist. This pamphlet is designed to help you see how GBC is seeking to be faithful. Why does Grace Bible Church need to add building space? We want to model the ant, as he is described in Proverbs 6 and Proverbs 30. The ant is wise because he labors now, in preparation for future needs. Being caught unprepared is a fatal mistake for that ant. We need to prepare now for the future of Grace Bible Church. We need to be able to accommodate the growing ministry needs in our children, student ministries and adult ministries by adding classroom space and technology. We need to improve our nursery facilities so our babies can be safe, and so our staff can serve more efficiently. We need to improve accessibility for our disabled and elderly by adding an elevator. We need more storage. We need to be able to protect our body during an emergency situation by adding storm shelters and fire suppressing sprinklers.

This brief list of improvements will serve the needs of Grace Bible Church now, and for many years to come. Are we being good stewards? Charles H. Spurgeon defines a steward as “a man who is put in trust with his Master’s goods”. We know that God owns everything (Psalm 24:1, Leviticus 25:23, Haggai 2:8, Psalm 50:10-12, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, Romans 14:7-8). He owns the church building. He owns the chairs. He owns the money. He owns everything! Our job, as Godly stewards, is simple. We have been entrusted to care for our Master’s goods, and to use them as tools to further His kingdom. Grace Bible Church holds this challenge high regard, and considers it an honor to care for God’s money and possessions. We have competent men who oversee our finances in a responsible and conservative manner. We have skilled men and women who invest countless hours to clean, repair, and beautify our church building. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 4:2, “it is required of stewards that one be found trustworthy.” Trustworthy stewards in the eyes of God. That’s a daunting task, yet one that we gladly accept.

Why do we need to give? Biblical wisdom challenges us to calculate the cost of a task, first, and then execute the task, secondly. That is where we are today. We have calculated the cost of this building addition, and the cost is a substantial figure of $2,300,000. Hutchinson Credit Union has offered a wide range of competitive financing options for this building project, at historically low interest rates. However, in order for us to accommodate this loan payment in our monthly budget, the loan amount needs to be reduced. We need your help to achieve this goal. To meet the challenge of being “trustworthy stewards”, we want to borrow the least amount of money necessary to complete this project. Proverbs 22:7 say that “…the borrower becomes the lender’s slave.” How true! Grace Bible Church will be bound by this debt until it is fully repaid. With your prayerful consideration and generous contributions towards this project, we can reduce that bondage from the onset by lowering our initial loan amount, thus lowering our monthly payment, giving us the necessary freedom to continue ministering to God’s people for His glory. --Chad Gilbert for the Elders of GBC
