NOTICE FOR ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE PARTICIPANTS The St. Patrick’s Day Parade is a family oriented event that has a long history in the City of Hermosa Beach. Safety is a large part of this event preparation and I want to make sure we all understand our obligations. To ensure we maintain a positive family atmosphere during the parade, alcohol possession or use by anyone participating in the parade is strictly prohibited and shall be cause for removal and/or criminal prosecution. This will also be cause to deny future participation in the parade. Alcohol causes impairment and bad judgment, which can result in injury or death. Participants shall not throw candy or other items to anyone along the parade route as this can cause a child to run into the street and possibly get injured. A child reacts instinctively and does not see danger when they run into the street after candy or other items. All drivers need to maintain a safe distance between each participating group and watch for people walking or running onto the parade route. Always drive with safety in mind. These simple rules will ensure a safe and enjoyable day for everyone involved. Thank you for helping make this a successful and safe St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
