City of Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) SPECIFICATION FOR PIPE SUPPORTS, AND HARDWARE 1. GENERAL These specifications cover the requirements for pipe variable spring (VS) supports, and for pipe support hardware for the Haynes Generating Station (HnGS), Unit 8, Auxiliary Boiler 8” Steam Line, 3” Steam Line, and 2 ½” and smaller Lines. 2. VARIABLE SPRING SUPPORTS AND PIPE SUPPORT HARDWARE Variable spring supports shall include a load preset bar for cold position setting, travel stop bar, and banding. The travel stop bar shall have an attachment chain that is joined to the VS support casing for future use. The travel stop bar shall be provided with an attached “CAUTION” tag which calls attention to the fact that the travel stop bar must be removed before the piping system is placed into operation. The new VS supports shall have internally guided load columns, load flanges, and graphite slide plates for Type F VS supports. Provide recommendation for new graphite slide plate technology, if available, that minimizes graphite plates from cracking at the corners. Parts listed on the drawings, pp. 3-22, are the VS supports and hardware to be purchased. Other pipe support hardware to be purchased may not include a drawing. Studs, Bolts, Nuts, and Load Pins with Cotters are to be provided with the restraint pipe clamps, single and double T-Bar clamp cradle supports, structural attachments, as applicable. Pipe VS support name plate shall include at minimum: (1) Mark number (2) Spring Rate [lb./in.] (3) Figure (4) Size (5) Hot Load (6) Cold Load (7) Serial Number (8) Travel Range [in.] All VS supports and hardware shall be manufactured in compliance with ASME B31.1, and MSS-SP-58, 69, 77 and 89 requirements. All welders, welding operations, and welding procedure specifications (WPS) shall be qualified in accordance with the requirements of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section IX. All codes and standards shall be the latest edition. The Contractor’s standard rust inhibitive primer shall be applied to the VS supports and hardware. See drawings for paint details. The Contractor shall provide Certificates of Compliance for all VS supports.

PIPE VS SUPPORT AND PIPE SUPPORT HARDWARE DRAWINGS The Contractor shall furnish pipe support assembly drawings according to MSSSP-89. The drawings shall include at minimum, bill of materials for all components, dimensions, pipe clamp bolting torque, and paint. These drawings shall be submitted to the Engineer for review and acceptance prior to fabrication.

5. MANUFACTURER’S QUALITY CONTROL (QC) SYSTEM The Contractor shall have and shall maintain a QC system which will assure that all ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section I requirements will be met. The QC system shall be documented by the Contractor in a QC manual. Prior to award, LADWP may require submittal of the QC manual for review and acceptance. LADWP will have the right to inspect the Contractor’s (and subcontractor’s) work in the course of manufacture and fabrication. However, final inspection will be made upon receipt at HnGS, and if any materials do not meet the requirements of these specifications, the lot or any faulty portion thereof may be rejected. 6. SHIPMENT AND DELIVERY Materials shall be delivered, Freight On Board (F.O.B.) to jobsite: Los Angeles Department of Water and Power Haynes Generating Station - ISS 6801 ¾ East 2nd Street Long Beach, California 90803 Attention: Roy Wilkerson ISS Construction Manager (213) 792-5887 Delivery times shall be between the hours of 7:00 a.m and 3:00 p.m. (PST) Monday through Friday. All shipments shall be properly boxed, crated, packed, or otherwise protected to prevent damage in transit and in storage. Materials delivered to the jobsite shall be by truck and shall be capable of being unloaded from 3 sides of the truck bed with a forklift loader or from above with an overhead crane.
